Chapter 104 So early in the morning, no thief would come to steal things so early?
Violet and Emily are on their way back to Hellen's apartment.
The two little darlings just woke up, rubbing their sleepy eyes. Nicole, barefoot, slowly walked out of the bedroom.
Hellen was preparing toothbrushes and face wash for them.
"Auntie, where's mommy?" Henry rubbed his eyes, holding his little sister Nicole's hand, and ran to Hellen's side, softly asking.
He has just started to speak a few sentences.
His pronunciation is not as clear as that of a two-year-old child.
But it's good enough.
At least everyone can understand.
Hellen handed them the toothbrushes with toothpaste on them, gently rubbing their little heads, and said, "Your mommy has to work, she'll come to accompany you tonight, alright?"
Upon hearing that mommy would only be able to accompany them tonight, but she didn't come last night, Henry felt unhappy. He immediately put on a sulking expression, looking very wronged.
Nicole, who was beside him, also made a sad face when she heard that mommy would only come back to accompany them tonight. She looked like she was about to cry.
Hellen was at a loss with the two little darlings. She could only continue to coax them, saying, "Sweetie, mommy needs to work to earn money so that she can take Henry and our little Nikki to the park or amusement park and buy you your favorite Peppa Pig, alright?"
When Nicole heard "Peppa Pig," she stopped feeling wronged. Her small chubby hands immediately grabbed Hellen's arm, and she began to babble, trying to speak.
She wanted Peppa Pig.
"Good girl Nicole, so... mommy needs to work to earn money to buy Peppa Pig for you. Can you go brush your teeth first?" Hellen touched Nicole's pink and tender face, speaking affectionately.
Nicole nodded obediently.
Henry, on the other hand, was different from children his age in terms of intellect and speech. He wouldn't be swayed by a Peppa Pig like his sister. He wanted mommy's company.
"Auntie, I just want mommy." Henry refused to go brush his teeth.
"Henry, be a good boy, mommy will be back tonight." Hellen patiently coaxed him.
Henry is more mature than other children his age, so his sensitive period of clinging to mommy has also come earlier.
"Auntie knows that you miss mommy, but mommy needs to earn money so she can buy milk and lots of toy cars for our Henry, right?"
"Our Henry is a little man now, he should take care of mommy, auntie, and his little sister, right? Can you do that?" Hellen continued to coax him.
Henry listened patiently and it made sense to him. He obediently nodded, ready to go brush his teeth with his sister.
The sound of a key unlocking the anti-theft door in the living room suddenly echoed. Immediately, Hellen became alert and looked towards the direction of the door. Who would be messing with her apartment door so early in the morning?
Could it be a thief?
In the early morning, no thief would come to steal things so early, right?
Then who could it be?
After some thought, Hellen pushed Henry and Nicole into the bathroom and casually picked up a broom nearby, slowly approaching the anti-theft door.
Click.
Finally, the anti-theft door opened.
Hellen prepared to raise the broom but heard Violet's voice, "Hellen, I'm back."
Upon hearing her voice, Hellen immediately put down the broom, patted her chest, and relievedly said, "You didn't even give a heads up when you came back! I thought it was a thief!"
"Hellen, I'm sorry. I came back with Emily, and I forgot to mention it," Violet said apologetically as she pulled Emily along. Both of them began changing their shoes in the shoe cabinet.
Hellen glanced at Emily, whom she hadn't seen in many years, and immediately smiled, saying, "Emily, you've become even more beautiful after all these years."
Emily turned around and smiled, "Auntie, thank you."
