Chapter 709 Brady, You Won't Ever Betray Me, Will You
As they left the cemetery, the sky was overcast, and a chilly wind rustled through the leaves, sending shivers down their spines.
Since Violet was pregnant, Brady decided to take her home first.
While they were sitting in the car, Violet suddenly leaned into Brady's broad, warm chest and hugged him tightly. "Brady, you won't ever betray me, will you?"
"Of course not! What kind of guy do you think I am?" Brady thought she was overthinking it and playfully pinched her cute, upturned nose.
If he were that kind of person, he wouldn't have gone through so much to marry her.
"I was just thinking about my parents," Violet sighed.
Even though she knew Brady wasn't like that.
Even if they had misunderstandings, Brady wouldn't wait over twenty years to come back and clear things up, only to find that Evelyn had already passed away.
There were so many things Evelyn never got to hear James' explanations for.
"I would never do that. Even if there were misunderstandings, I would explain them to you right away. But you don't keep things from me, okay?" Brady said, hinting at something.
Violet knew what he meant. It was about the time she secretly met with Ethan.
She hadn't told him because she was afraid of misunderstandings.
But she wouldn't do that again. From now on, she would tell him everything.
"Okay, I'll tell you everything from now on, alright?" Violet said sweetly, snuggling up to him.
Brady finally felt satisfied and patted her hair.
After a moment, he said, "By the way, the Stanley family funeral is next week. I'll go alone; you don't need to come."
"Why?" Violet asked, puzzled.
"You're pregnant now, so you should take good care of yourself at home and rest well."
"Alright, but be careful. I heard there's a lot of infighting in the Arthur family," Violet said, worried he might get involved and bring trouble upon himself.
"Don't worry. Even if something happens, I can take care of myself." Brady kissed her lips and then held her close as they headed home.
At the cemetery.
James stayed by Evelyn's gravestone for a full two hours before Ethan helped him back to the hospital.
Helen and Juniper followed behind.
On the way back, Helen couldn't help but try to persuade James, "James, why don't you come back to Eldoria with me? Your health isn't great, and we all worry about you being here alone. The kids are worried too."
"And the doctor advised us to stay with you at all times," Helen added, concerned about his health.
James, still angry, wouldn't listen. "If I die, at least I can be buried with her."
"After all, I owe her so much. I need to atone for my sins."
"James." Helen felt helpless hearing this and could only suffer in silence.
Juniper couldn't stand seeing Helen upset and quickly said to James, "Dad, Mom is just worried about your health."
"No need." James was too angry to listen to anything.
"Dad." Juniper wanted to say more, but Ethan interrupted her, "Don't. Let Mom and Dad work it out themselves."
Juniper understood what Ethan meant. Their interference might only make things worse, so she bit her lip and stayed quiet.
The car then fell into a tense silence.
Helen wiped her tear-stained eyes with a tissue and, as if making a big decision, said to James, who was sitting in the front, "If you want to stay here, I won't interfere. But I'm your wife, and I have a responsibility to take care of you, so I'm staying too."
"Let Ethan and Juniper go back to Eldoria."
If they had to endure the pain, they would endure it together.
