Chapter 1064 He Dares to Harass You Once, I Will Break One of His Legs

Emily remained unconscious from morning until afternoon.

Seeing that everyone had stayed with her for so long, Elodie suggested that Violet and the others go home. She promised to notify them if Emily woke up.

Violet wanted to stay longer, but Brady had some urgent business at his company, so she reluctantly left with him.

They planned to return once Emily woke up.

As the couple exited the hospital, Violet felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She threw herself into Brady's arms and cried uncontrollably.

"I've known Emily for over ten years, and I've never seen her this vulnerable. Austin has really destroyed her," Violet said, her voice breaking. Just thinking about Emily's face made her feel like she was falling apart.

Brady gently stroked her back, trying to comfort her. "Don't be sad. Thankfully, Emily is okay."

"This time we were lucky. But as long as Austin is around, I'm afraid..." Violet worried that Austin might seek revenge.

"Lucien will handle it," Brady assured her, concerned that her worry might affect her health. "You don't need to stress about it. I'm here for you."

Emily was his beloved's best friend. He wouldn't stand by and do nothing.

Violet nodded, "Okay."

By evening, Emily finally woke up, though she was still very weak and couldn't speak much. Elodie was relieved just to see her awake. She held Emily's hand gently, her eyes red with emotion. "Emily, you're finally awake. Do you want something to eat?"

Emily wasn't hungry; her stomach felt terrible, as if it had been washed out repeatedly.

Her lips were dry. "Water."

"You want some water?" Elodie asked, nearly in tears at seeing Emily so frail.

"Yes."

"I'll get you some water." Elodie let go of her hand and went to pour some water.

Douglas was still sitting nearby, silent. When Emily had woken up, his expression had been more excited than anyone else's.

But he felt guilty about what had happened to Emily.

Emily didn't seem to want to talk to Douglas, and they remained silent.

When Elodie returned with the water, she helped Emily drink. Only then did Douglas speak, "I'll go get you something to eat."

He stood up and left.

Emily watched him go, still silent.

After helping Emily drink, Elodie said, "Emily, just focus on resting. Don't worry about the house or the company. I've already given your dad a piece of my mind."

Emily nodded, but then her face darkened as she thought of Austin. "Mom, Austin..."

"Sweetheart, don't worry. Your dad won't let him stay," Elodie reassured her quickly.

Emily finally felt at ease, but she was still very weak. Before Douglas returned with food, she fell asleep again.

She slept until late at night.

When she woke up, Douglas and Elodie were dozing on the sofa nearby. They hadn't gone home, staying by her side instead.

Emily glanced at them and tried to sit up.

Before she could move much, a pair of gentle hands reached out to help her. Startled, she turned to see Lucien.

What was he doing here?

And in the middle of the night?

Emily stared at him, momentarily speechless. Lucien spoke first, "Don't move around. You're still recovering."

Emily pressed her dry lips together. "Why are you here?"

"You knew I would come," Lucien said softly. "I told you I would handle it. Why did you do something so reckless?"

Emily's nose tingled with emotion. She couldn't wait any longer; Austin had pushed her too far.

"I won't ask anymore. Just rest," Lucien said, noticing her unstable emotions and worrying about her health. "Don't worry. Austin won't dare bother you again."

"If he harasses you once, I'll break one of his legs. Twice, I'll break both."

Lucien's tone was gentle, but the protective determination in his voice stirred something deep within Emily's heart.
