Chapter 1069 Ms. Clark, You Are Just a Newcomer, Don't Cause Us Trouble
Outskirts of the city, at a film set.
The warehouse where the crew stored their costumes was ablaze. Two fire trucks had arrived, and all the firefighters were working tirelessly to extinguish the flames.
Next to the warehouse, which was nearly consumed by the fire, JK's designer, Thora White, and director Lloyd Wallace were in a heated argument over who was responsible for the incident.
Lloyd and the production team believed that JK was to blame for the fire.
After all, the warehouse was used by the designers, and surveillance footage showed that while one of JK's designers was working on a skirt with a burning technique, sparks flew out and ignited the surrounding fabric, leading to the fire.
Lloyd was determined to hold someone accountable, as the costumes alone were worth at least a million dollars.
Including the destroyed warehouse, the total damage was estimated at five million dollars.
Five million dollars was an amount the senior designer responsible for the burning technique could never afford, and she refused to admit it was her mistake. The video did show sparks flying while she was working, but it also showed her putting them out.
However, it was unclear why the video then showed the fabric catching fire.
This was the crux of their argument.
JK's designers denied responsibility, while Lloyd, having seen the video, insisted it was their fault and demanded compensation.
The designer couldn't pay, so they had to wait for Violet and Max to arrive.
While they waited, Aria stood by, watching the drama unfold.
The other two designers and Lloyd were arguing so intensely that it looked like they might come to blows.
"Lloyd, if it were my fault, I would admit it, but I didn't do it. I put out the sparks. Why doesn't the video show that? Why does it jump straight to the fire?" Thora, the senior designer, argued, her eyes red with frustration.
If this weren't cleared up, her career would be over, and she might even face jail time.
"Thora, I don't want to argue with you. I'm going by what I saw. We'll discuss this when your supervisors arrive," Lloyd said, not wanting to waste more time arguing, and walked away.
Thora couldn't explain it and watched the warehouse continue to burn.
She squatted down, covering her face, and started to cry.
If she couldn't clear her name, she would have to pay five million dollars in damages, an amount she could never earn in her lifetime.
How could she possibly pay that?
As she cried, another designer squatted down to comfort her.
Seeing that the situation had reached a boiling point, Aria finally stepped in.
"Thora, let me help you," Aria said.
Thora, crying uncontrollably, looked up immediately. The other designer spoke first, "Ms. Clark, you're just a newcomer. Don't make things worse for us."
Aria didn't mind their dismissive attitude and continued, "How do you know unless you try? Ms. Devereux and Mr. Green aren't here yet. Someone has to do something, right?"
"What are you going to do?" Thora asked, still upset.
Aria calmly replied, "You'll see soon enough."
With that, Aria headed over to Lloyd.
Thora and the other designer exchanged glances. "What do we do? Ms. Devereux isn't here yet. Should we just let her handle it?"
"Let her try, as long as she doesn't make things worse. We'll wait for Ms. Devereux."
Thora wiped her tears and nodded, "Alright, we don't have a choice."
However, the fire on the set quickly became a hot topic online after crew members posted videos on social media. What started as a private incident blew up because it involved JK.
The news spread rapidly, even reaching Matilda, who usually didn't follow such news.
Especially when she heard that Aria was at the scene.
Matilda, worried, quickly called Brady to find out what was going on.
