Chapter 201 She wouldn't Even Accept His Mansion

Loraine Plahn was seething, and no words of consolation from Leana could quell the tempest within her. Every bride dreams of a wedding day filled with joy and celebration, yet here was Violet Devereux, stirring up a storm of drama on the internet. Was Loraine justified in her anger?

Upon further reflection, Loraine doubted that Violet would be reckless enough to leak the story. What could she possibly gain from it?

As her anger subsided, Loraine began to suspect that she might be the victim of a cruel prank. Could the perpetrator be someone from her own family?

As she was lost in thought, a call from Brady Hall interrupted her. She glanced at the caller ID on her phone, her delicate eyebrows furrowing in frustration. She was certain that Brady, her brother, was calling to discuss the same issue, likely in defense of Violet.

Clutching a pillow from the couch, Loraine squeezed it in frustration before finally rising to answer the call. She couldn't simply ignore her brother.

Intending to take the call by the pool outside the villa, Loraine discreetly slipped away from Leana. Noticing her secretive demeanor, Leana reached out to pull her back, asking, "Who's calling? Why the secrecy?"

"Oh, it's my cousin... personal stuff," Loraine replied with feigned cheerfulness, careful not to mention Brady. She was aware of Leana’s crush on Brady, and with his interest in Violet, it would be unwise to involve her in their affairs. Best to feign ignorance.

"Okay then, go ahead," Leana said, not prying further since it was a family matter. She added with a smile, "Just make sure to give him an earful about how awful the woman he likes is being."

"I will," Loraine affirmed with a nod, briskly walking to the poolside, and sliding shut the glass door behind her before even daring to swipe her phone screen and answer Brady's call.

"What's up, Brady?"

"Did you see what happened online this morning?" Brady's voice was slow and measured.

"I'm aware," Loraine replied, her guess confirmed that her brother was indeed calling about that issue. She could almost predict that his next words would be in defense of Violet.

"My agent just messaged me – did you help pull all the posts offline? Thanks."

Loraine was taken aback, not expecting this turn in their conversation, as she clutched the phone a little tighter by the pool’s edge.

"Don't hold back with me; this issue affects the Hall family too," Brady Hall continued, "You're free for lunch, right? I'd like to treat you to lunch."

"Lunch?" Loraine Plahn was slightly taken aback, but quickly she understood why he was asking. "Is Ms. Devereux going to be there?"

Given that she was now engaged, and knowing Brady's character, he wouldn't ask her to lunch alone to avoid any gossip. It had to be with Violet Devereux present!

"Yeah, she'll be there," confirmed Brady Hall honestly.

"You're speaking on her behalf, aren't you? You don't need to treat me to lunch. For your sake, I wouldn't want to give her a hard time," Loraine Plahn sighed, suddenly speaking in a woeful tone, " Brady, my dear brother... you don't have to go out of your way to say nice things for her. I understand."

Brady Hall was amused by her statement, letting out a short chuckle, "This issue wasn't her doing; she isn't that foolish to do something that would ruin her career for life."

Listening, Loraine asked, "So what you're saying is...?"

"It must be a deliberate setup by someone. Do you really think a recent college graduate would be so naive as to trade a major celebrity's secret for the destruction of her own design career? Are you not thinking enough or do you really believe she would do something that dumb?" Brady Hall had firm faith in Violet Devereux's character. This was a woman who wouldn't even accept his mansion worth thirty million dollars, let alone resort to such a foolish act of leaking information to the media.

What good would it do her?

A leak wouldn't earn her thirty million dollars, would it?

Just on this point alone, he trusted her. Moreover, she had no grudge against Loraine Plahn. Why set her up?

With this explanation from Brady, Loraine Plahn thought it over and found it dubious indeed. Violet Devereux didn't seem the type to sabotage her own profession. Otherwise, why would she wait in the rain just to offer her a design?

"Then... I'll join you and Ms. Devereux for lunch later to discuss this more," Loraine Plahn put away her suspicions and said.

"Sure, it'll be at the restaurant at Moonlit Haven Hotel."

"Okay."
