Chapter 116: Why Won't This Man Release Her from His Hold?

Violet deliberately allowed Loraine to vent her frustrations, knowing that doing so would facilitate their future collaboration. If she didn't manage to turn the tables now, her life at JK would be unbearable, subject to everyone's whims.

"Brady, I'm at fault here. I'll accept whatever Miss Plahn decides," Violet said, her brows furrowed in concern, as she tried to push away the man restraining her.

He held on tightly. Why wouldn't he let go? Violet felt uneasy being held so closely, especially with Arthur smirking nearby. They must think she was trying to exploit the situation, but she had no such intention. With a firm push, she freed herself from Brady's grasp, only to have him seize her wrist and dismiss her with a curt, "Get out!"

Violet was taken aback. Did he think she had come to make a scene? She wanted to stay, but his command was clear, and she didn't dare defy it. With reluctance, she left the room, her resolve to secure Loraine's project unwavering.

After Violet's departure, Brady declared the issue resolved, subtly siding with her.

Loraine was puzzled. Why would Brother Gu defend Violet, a woman ousted from a prestigious family? She didn't linger on the thought—Brady's word was final.

Leaving the hospital room, Brady and Arthur encountered Violet sitting outside. Brady spared her a glance before walking away with Arthur.

Outside the hospital, Arthur teased, "Have you taken a fancy to her?"

Brady scoffed at the notion, replying coldly, "Impossible. Am I that desperate?"

Arthur chuckled in response.

Loraine was discharged the next day. Violet, eager to discuss the design, followed her persistently, but Loraine and Carson left hastily, ignoring her.

Violet waited outside the villa, stationed at the guardhouse. The security guard, observing her unwavering patience and noting the impending rain, called Loraine to inform her.

Loraine hung up without a word. Why would she reconsider working with Violet? She planned to inform her cousin of the situation.

Arthur relayed the scene to Brady. It was Brady's choice to intervene or not, but Loraine was adamant about not meeting Violet. Despite this, Violet's determination didn't wane. She was committed to securing a future for her children and herself at JK.

The weather turned against her, and at 9:30 PM, a downpour began. Recently weakened by childbirth, Violet couldn't afford to get wet, but she pushed herself too far.

After half an hour in the rain, her strength gave out, and she collapsed with a thud.

The security guard hurried to assist her, just as the headlights of a black Bentley illuminated the scene. The car pulled up, and a man emerged, his driver holding an umbrella over him.

Brady's expression tightened as he saw Violet on the ground. Without hesitation, he picked her up and carried her away from the rain, back to the sanctuary of home.
