Chapter 419 Apologize to Violet
"Brady, is this for real?" Matilda asked, her voice shaky.
Matilda was caught off guard. She instinctively touched the hand that had just slapped Violet. She felt like she was losing it, acting so irrationally over some hearsay.
"Yeah, it's true. How could I not know what I've done?" Brady replied, sounding a bit defeated.
Matilda took a deep breath, her face flushed with shame and regret. "I just slapped Violet. I really lost it. I feel terrible."
"It's okay. You were just impulsive," Brady tried to comfort her. "I'll explain it to her. She's not unreasonable. Don't stress."
"No, no, I hit her. That was wrong," Matilda shook her head quickly, filled with regret. "Brady, get her back here. I need to apologize."
Brady pulled out his phone to call Violet, but before he could dial, Matilda suddenly stopped him. "Brady, Let me do it. This is my fault, and I should be the one to call her."
"Alright," Brady agreed, thinking it was better for Matilda to handle it herself. He put his phone away and sat down. Matilda immediately called Violet, but there was no answer.
Violet, still reeling from the slap, didn't hear her phone buzzing in her bag as she walked out of the private hospital.
She found a bench by the roadside, sat down, and stared at the sky, trying to figure out her next move.
Meanwhile, Matilda was getting more anxious with each unanswered call. "Brady, get someone to find her. We have to find her. I know I messed up. I need to apologize today."
Seeing Matilda so worked up, Brady couldn't help but smile a little. "Grandma, don't worry. I'll get someone to look for her."
"How can I not worry? I drove Violet away. I made a mistake," Matilda sighed, full of self-reproach.
Brady kept his calm, took out his phone, and made arrangements to find Violet.
Even after that, Matilda was still uneasy and tried calling Violet again.
This time, the call went through. Matilda's voice was filled with relief. "Violet, where are you?"
"Ma'am, what do you need?" Violet asked cautiously, still sitting on the bench.
Violet had no idea Matilda wanted to apologize; she thought she was in for another round of scolding.
She had already decided that if Matilda wanted her gone, she would leave. Better that than waiting for Brady's parents to kick her out.
But she felt a pang of reluctance. She realized she had fallen for Brady again, just like her childhood crush.
"Violet, it's nothing. Can you come back to the ward? I need to talk to you," Matilda said, her voice uneasy. She didn't want to apologize over the phone.
That would be too insincere. Apologies needed to be face-to-face.
Violet was taken aback. Why did she want her to come back?
Was she going to humiliate her again?
