Chapter 614 Will They Forgive Me
Ava sat alone on the curb, crying like there was no tomorrow. Her assistant, Leah, couldn't stand seeing her like this and gently said, "Mrs. Hall, please don't be so upset."
Earlier, Leah had followed Ava into the bridal shop and saw Violet there.
Back when they were at JK, Leah had made things tough for Violet, never imagining that Brady would be so protective of her.
Leah was secretly relieved she hadn't gone too far back then; otherwise, she might not have survived in this industry. However, it seemed that Ava wasn't thrilled about Violet being her daughter-in-law.
What she hadn't expected was Brady openly opposing Ava.
Leah couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy for Ava. She had been with Ava for a long time and had never seen her so down and out.
The Ava she knew was always elegant and dignified, surrounded by bodyguards and servants. But now? She looked like a discarded woman.
"Leah, I think I made a huge mistake." Ava wiped the tears from her eyes and stood up, gazing at the bustling traffic on the street.
"Ava, everyone makes mistakes, but it's important to fix them," Leah said, trying to comfort her, though she wasn't entirely sure what had happened with the Hall family.
She didn't want Ava to become so despondent that she might do something drastic.
Even though Ava wasn't as famous as the young stars, she was still a well-known celebrity. If something happened to her, the company would hold Leah accountable.
"If you mistreated the person closest to you and caused them to develop psychological issues, do you think they would forgive you?" Ava's head began to feel dizzy, and the crying had left her feeling utterly drained and powerless.
It was as if her life force had been sucked dry.
Mistreatment? Psychological issues? What was going on? Leah was confused; she had no idea what had transpired.
"See, if it were you, you wouldn't forgive me either, right?" Ava said with a self-deprecating smile.
Leah quickly shook her head. "Ava, you won't know if she won't forgive you unless you try. I think if you make an effort to make amends, it should be okay."
Leah didn't know what else to say to comfort her, so she said what she could.
"I always wanted a daughter-in-law with a strong background, someone who could be presented proudly. But the truth is, I was never someone who could be presented proudly myself." Ava said, her voice filled with self-mockery.
Leah was slightly surprised.
She had always thought Ava came from a wealthy family.
"I relied on my looks to get into the industry and was fortunate enough to meet Michael. He didn't care about my background and brought me into the Hall family. Because of my own insecurities about my background, I wanted my son to marry a girl with an exceptional background to make up for the difference."
"But in the end, my son, like his father, never cared about those superficial things. Ironically, I, who climbed up from the bottom, craved those superficial things the most."
She feared she wouldn't have any respect in the circle of wealthy women.
As Ava finished speaking, the sharpness in her eyes seemed to have dulled.
In the end, it was her own deep-seated insecurities that drove her.
She longed for a daughter-in-law who could be presented proudly to compensate for her own shortcomings.
"Ava, I think you should try talking to them," Leah continued to comfort her.
Ava was silent for a moment, looking at the entrance of the bridal shop in the distance. "I'll find an opportunity. Let's go back for now." At the very least, she needed to find a way to make amends with Nicole first.
Leah nodded, "I'll go get the car."
