Chapter 968 Insisting on Lucien, but he completely ignored her, and she still went to ingratiate herself
Fifteen minutes later, the Hall family driver finally pulled up in front of the luxury store.
Violet stepped out of the car, with the Hall family bodyguards clearing the way for her.
Inside the store, Emily stood by a glass display case, examining the luxury watches inside, seemingly trying to make a decision.
Violet glanced around from the entrance, then walked over with her purse in hand. "Emily, you're buying a watch this early in the morning?"
Emily turned at the sound of Violet's voice and immediately pulled her over. "Perfect timing! Help me decide which of these two men's watches looks better?"
Men's watches?
Violet raised an eyebrow and looked at the two watches, each worth over $50,000, displayed on the glass counter.
One was brown, the other pure black.
Both suited a mature, sophisticated style.
"Emily, who are you buying this watch for?" Violet asked after examining the watches.
Emily picked up the brown one and looked at it. "For Mr. Roberts."
"What do you think? The brown one?"
Violet furrowed her brow, a bit surprised. "You're getting serious this quickly?"
"What are you thinking?" Emily laughed, putting the watch down. "I'm giving him the watch because he's helping my dad get in touch with his friend, a heart specialist abroad."
"I was worried for a second, thinking you were suddenly head over heels." Violet sighed in relief, almost believing Emily had fallen for Austin so quickly.
"Nope." Emily wasn't one to be driven solely by romance. She realized she couldn't afford to be impulsive anymore, especially since Austin showed concern for her father, Douglas. She felt it was worth a try. "Anyway, help me decide on the watch."
"The brown one," Violet pointed to the brown mechanical watch.
"I think the brown mechanical watch is nice too," Emily agreed and told the sales associate, "I'll take this one. Please wrap it up and include a note inside the box."
The sales associate nodded and took the watch to be packaged. "Certainly."
While waiting for the packaging, Violet pulled Emily aside and asked, "Why the sudden change of heart?"
"He mentioned my dad last night, and I suddenly realized something. Marriage isn't about looks; it's about finding a man who cares for you and your family. So, I think I should give it a try." She had learned the hard way from her previous infatuation with Lucien.
She had chased after Lucien, only to be ignored and humiliated.
It was laughable.
If she were to marry, she didn't want a relationship where she had to constantly chase after someone.
She wanted to be loved and cared for.
Simple as that.
"Are you sure you don't want to think it over and observe more? Have you really moved on from Lucien?" Violet understood that Emily, realizing the true essence of marriage, was good, but Austin might not be the right person.
She wasn't sure if Emily had truly let go of Lucien.
Mentioning Lucien, Emily's eyes darkened briefly but quickly returned to normal. "I don't want to think about him anymore. Besides, dating Austin might be worth a try. Of course, I won't rush into an engagement." She planned to date first and see how it went.
If it worked out, then she'd consider engagement.
"Don't rush into an engagement," Violet cautioned, worried Emily might be deceived.
Austin seemed honest, but no one knew his inner self.
If he were truly honest, he wouldn't have slipped Brady his business card to get acquainted.
A college professor like him didn't need to network with business people. What was his motive?
Violet naturally didn't want Emily to be tricked.
"I know," Emily reassured, squeezing Violet's hand. "By the way, when's your wedding? I need to prepare your gift."
"Brady said in a week, but I'm not sure. He's handling it. I'll let you know once the date is set."
Emily nodded. "Alright."
The two women chatted about the wedding for a while. The watch was now packaged, and Emily took the gift bag, ready to bid Violet farewell and head to the school to deliver the gift.
Violet grabbed her hand and said, "I'll go with you to the school. I'm not trying on wedding dresses this morning."
She wanted to check out Austin herself.
After all, sometimes an outsider saw things more clearly than those involved.
