Chapter 127 So, Did Annie Really Have a Child?
Violet and Emily spent a little more time in the apartment before heading back to JK.
Emily dropped Violet off at the base of the Hall family building, pulling her car to a stop.
Violet climbed out of the car just as Laura Murphy and Fanny, chatting and laughing, stepped out of the lobby on their way to a client meeting.
They barely took a few steps outside when they caught sight of Violet exiting a sleek Maserati sports car.
The instant the two women laid eyes on her, their gazes lit up with interest.
They were fixated, watching her every move.
Violet Devereux, oblivious to their intense scrutiny, gracefully exited her car and bent over with a smile to wave goodbye to Emily Hart, who remained seated inside.
After closing the door behind her, her face still beamed with that same smile.
To Fanny and Laura Murphy, that particular smile became the tell-tale sign of a fresh college grad flaunting herself.
These new college girls were quite something.
First the courtship from the high-profile Mr. White of the city's leading families, then the attention from their own JK's Mr. Green, and now, some mystery man with a Maserati sports car?
She sure knew how to play the field.
Fanny and Laura Murphy, both single and past the so-called prime age for marriage, couldn't help but feel envious, their eyes nearly turning green with it.
Why did a girl with no experience attract the affection of wealthy men?
And they, with all their experience and knowledge of life's finer details, couldn't catch anyone's eye?
Filled with a mix of jealousy and spite, they couldn't afford to dwell on the thought; indulging it only intensified their bitterness.
They wanted nothing more than to see Violet Devereux out of JK instantly.
Meanwhile, Violet Devereux, clutching her purse, made a beeline for the office entrance, only noticing Fanny and Laura Murphy as she approached the doorway.
Her steps slowed, her gaze grew heavy with defiance.
As Violet got closer, Fanny started with her pointed remarks, "Oh look, someone's not even a regular employee yet they seem to think showing up late and leaving early is fine—must be nice using your looks and shamelessness to get ahead, huh?"
"Yeah, well, not all of us can be so... liberal with our company," Laura chimed in bitterly.
Fanny scoffed, "Which is exactly why she messed up the Loraine Plahn dress order and still has someone covering for her. Lucky girl, isn't she?"
The mention of the dress incident set Violet off.
Initially, she intended to stay on at JK and endure everything thrown her way, to gain experience in design.
But things had changed. After all the drama and Brady Hall's involvement, she decided to take a stand. She would be herself, and if it didn't work out, she would find a new job.
No longer would she allow them to walk all over her.
With that thought, Violet Devereux shrugged off any fear and walked up to Fanny with a less abrasive tone, cultured and polite. "Fanny, you think slipping me that mango cake to mess up Loraine’s order means you've won?"
“I’m telling you, I'm definitely landing Loraine’s account,” Violet declared without waiting for a reply from Fanny. She turned on her heel and headed straight into the building, leaving Fanny purple with rage.
Who did this college grad think she was, talking to her like that? Fine, let her wait—she wouldn’t let Violet get cozy at JK!

Meanwhile, at the top floor executive office of Hall Enterprises, Brady Hall was busy reviewing some paperwork when his personal physician arrived, bringing a set of supplements for Violet Devereux to boost her health.
Brady glanced up, having forgotten about it. “Just leave the medicine here, and you can go,” he said, his voice deep and composed.
The doctor nodded, “Mr. Hall, this is a very effective supplement. Make sure Ms. Devereux takes it on schedule.”
Brady merely waved a hand, dismissing him without a word. But once the doctor was gone, Brady picked up the bottle and furrowed his brow.
This supplement was meant for someone recovering postpartum.
Was it possible that Violet had a child?
