Chapter 1030 What About His Child? Won't the Hart Family Have to Acknowledge Him?

Emily returned to her villa feeling down and troubled. Just as she walked in, Elodie came out with a plate of fruit. Seeing Emily, she exclaimed, "Emily, you're back early! Is Violet's wedding over?"

"I had to leave early for something, but I'll be going back tonight," Emily quickly composed herself, not wanting her mom to worry.

Elodie nodded and was about to offer her some watermelon slices when she noticed Emily's red, puffy eyes, as if she'd been crying. Concerned, she asked, "Emily, why are your eyes so red? Did something happen?"

Emily shook her head and smiled, "It's nothing. Today is Violet's wedding, and I got emotional and cried a bit. That's why my eyes are red."

Elodie didn't doubt her explanation and led her to the living room sofa, her eyes filled with warmth. "Emily, when are you planning to get engaged to Austin? Your dad and I have been looking forward to it!"

Mentioning Austin seemed to touch a nerve for Emily. She pressed her lips together tightly and remained silent.

She didn't know how to be honest with her parents about Austin.

She feared they wouldn't be able to handle the truth.

Especially her dad... His health had just improved, and he couldn't take any major shocks.

"What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?" Elodie noticed her serious expression and couldn't help but ask.

Something seemed off today.

Elodie knew Emily well. This silent demeanor was so unlike her usual chatty and lively self.

Was something wrong?

As Elodie pondered, Emily hesitated for a moment, then decided to come clean. After all, this was something that had to be said eventually. "Mom, I'm planning to break up with Austin."

"What? You two were doing so well!" Elodie was shocked. Something was definitely wrong!

"Emily, are you being impulsive again? You can't be so reckless." Elodie knew her daughter's personality well.

Sometimes she acted impulsively.

But this wasn't child's play. Both families had met, and they were just waiting to pick a good date for the engagement. How could she suddenly talk about breaking up?

"Mom, I'm not being impulsive. This time, it's not my fault." Emily paused for a moment before continuing, "Mom, I'll tell you, but please don't tell Dad everything. I'm afraid he won't be able to handle it."

Elodie nodded, ready to listen to what Emily had to say. "Tell me, what's going on?"

"Austin pretended to be a good guy to me. He was previously engaged, and the woman is pregnant. He abandoned her to come back here. Now she's alone at home with the child." Emily explained seriously, leaving Elodie in shock.

How could this be?

Austin had a fiancée and a child? And he abandoned them?

This was...

Elodie had always thought he had good character. He was a college professor, someone who should be a role model. How could his character be so poor?

"So, Mom, do you still want me to continue seeing him? How can I be with a man who abandons his wife and child?" Emily's voice grew pained. She wasn't upset about the facts themselves but about her bad luck in always encountering bad men.

"If we get married, what about his child? Wouldn't the Hart family have to acknowledge them?"

"Emily, is this true?" Elodie snapped out of her shock, her face turning grim.

She had always prided herself on her judgment of character. Who knew she could be so wrong?

"Of course it's true. I wouldn't say it if it weren't." Emily brushed aside the hair falling over her face, feeling miserable.

"If it's true, I definitely support you." Elodie held Emily's hand. "I'll handle this."

"Okay." Emily was relieved to have Elodie take charge.

If she had to tell her dad herself, it might be too much for him.

"Mom, I'm tired. I'm going upstairs to rest for a bit."

"Alright."

Emily then went upstairs to her bedroom. As soon as she got there, her best friend Violet called.
