"Of course I have thoughts. She made us go bankrupt and left us with nothing. How could I not have thoughts?" Lilian slowly walked over to Aiden's desk, speaking smoothly, "Mr. White, I bet you're not too fond of her either, right?"
Aiden set his coffee cup down, eyeing the woman who had been squatting in his villa and refused to leave. He let out a derisive laugh and said, "Whether I like her or not, you don't need to remind me." After a pause, he added, "If you have something to say, just say it. Don't waste my time beating around the bush."
Although Aiden was indeed unhappy about Brady marrying Violet, he was a man and wouldn't reveal his true feelings in front of a woman like Lilian.
"Violet's mom used to work in a brothel. My dad took a liking to her, slept with her, and she got pregnant. She then forced the Devereux family to marry her. So, just the fact that she worked in a brothel, don't you think the Hall family, with their reputation, would find that disgraceful?" Lilian said venomously.
"A brothel? That must have been decades ago. Do you have any proof?" Aiden picked up a trinket from his desk and toyed with it.
"I do. My mom has it. I'll go home and get it right now," Lilian said excitedly, and then she actually left to fetch the evidence.
However, Aiden wasn't as excited. Violet's mom used to work in a brothel? How come he didn't know about this?
What he had heard was that Violet's mom was a famous beauty and top student at Elysiuma Law School back in the day.
Her family wasn't wealthy, but they weren't so poor that she would need to work in a brothel.
Could there be more to this story?
Aiden couldn't figure it out. Since it was something from the previous generation, he decided to wait for Lilian to bring the evidence before making any conclusions.
While Lilian went back to the Devereux house to get the evidence of Violet's mom's past, Violet was blissfully unaware, happily preparing for their public announcement and hot spring trip.
Ava also knew they were planning to take Nicole to the hot springs.
After two days of reflection, she specifically went to a baby store with her assistant and bought some toys and snacks that kids like, filling three bags before driving back to the mansion.
But when she arrived at the mansion, she didn't knock on the door right away. Michael had told her that Nicole had developed a stress disorder because of her.
Nicole would have an episode whenever she saw her.
If she suddenly appeared in front of Nicole, it would definitely scare her again.
So she thought for a moment and decided to call Violet first.
This time, Violet answered her call, but once connected, Ava found it hard to swallow her pride and didn't know how to start.
After all, she had once been a glamorous star and the much-admired "Mrs. Ava Hall."
She had also had a falling out with Violet before, making it even harder for Ava to put aside her pride.
So she held the phone without speaking first, and Violet, not hearing anything, had to break the silence, "What do you want?"
Hearing Violet's voice, Ava finally spoke, "Violet, about what happened before, I'm sorry."
Just as Brady had said, Ava was apologizing to her.
"And about Nicole, I'm sorry too. As her grandmother, I didn't take good care of her and even scared her," Ava continued slowly, "I don't know if you can forgive me, but after everything that's happened, I know I was wrong. So I'm not asking for immediate forgiveness. I just hope you'll give me a chance to take care of Nicole?"
Ava's apology was sincere, and Violet could tell it wasn't fake. After a brief pause, she said, "Nicole can't see you right now. She's afraid of you."
"I'm willing to try. We can take it slow."
"I'll discuss it with Brady and then decide. I'll hang up now," Violet said, preparing to end the call.
Ava quickly added, "Violet, I'm sorry." She then hung up, knowing she couldn't expect Violet to forgive her right away.
All she wanted now was her family, her husband and son, and to genuinely accept the children and Violet.
No matter how long it took, she was willing to wait.
