Chapter 67 Violet is not the type of woman who is motivated by money.
Violet walked out of Brady's office with a trace of anger still lingering. Before she reached the elevator, she ran into Lilian, who had been waiting for her all along.
As soon as Lilian saw Violet coming out, she immediately stopped her path with a sly expression and said, "Violet, I have something to ask you." Her tone was filled with arrogance, and Violet had the strong urge to slap her.
She no longer belonged to the Devereux family, so how dare Lilian treat her with such disrespect?
"If you have something to say, make it quick. I'm busy," Violet coldly retorted.
Seeing Violet acting all high and mighty, Lilian's expression changed instantly. With anger in her eyes and through gritted teeth, she asked, "Tell me, why did Mr. Hall call you? What business did he have with you?"
"What business? Obviously, it's work," Violet said, reaching out to press the elevator button for the desired floor.
"What kind of work? Explain it to me!"
Lilian refused to back down; she suspected something was off. Violet didn't bring any documents inside, so what work could she possibly have? Could it be that she was trying to seduce Brady again?
The thought ignited Lilian's jealousy like a raging lioness, and she didn't care about her own image.
Even though they were currently in the Hall family building, she went crazy and vented her anger towards Violet, "Violet, are you are shameless? Didn't you take an oath? If you're going to meet Mr. Hall, you might as well drop dead!"
Hearing these words, Violet's anger reached its peak. Did both Lilian and her mother, including the Devereux family matriarch, want her and her mother to die together?
What did they do wrong?
Why did they have to be treated like this?
When their father had an affair and Eileen became the mistress, their mother was forced to divorce and leave the Devereux family. It was all their wrong doing.
Yet, she and her mother had to bear all the consequences together.
Did they really think she was a spineless pushover?
No, she wasn't.
She would make them pay.
As a tribute to her late mother!
Suppressing the desire to slap Lilian, Violet said coldly, "Instead of harassing me, why don't you go and ask Mr. Hall? What exactly I did inside his office?"
"Don't start a fight for no reason. If you're so capable, go find Mr. Hall yourself!" Violet finished speaking in one breath as the elevator doors opened conveniently.
She immediately stepped inside.
Lilian wanted to grab her and force her to explain, but the elevator doors closed too quickly.
Her hand almost got caught.
Lilian was forced to withdraw her hand, and in her shock, she lost control of her anger. She kicked the metal elevator door with all her might.
Of course, the one who suffered was herself.
The metal door was so hard that her high heels almost broke.
In pain, Lilian squatted down, on the verge of tears.
She truly despised Violet.
Violet, who had just returned, found that Aiden had already left the JK office. However, a tall box of 999 roses, along with a Chanel handbag worth 500,000, remained on her desk.
Seeing these two items made Violet particularly distressed. Who would want to receive such valuable gifts?
And if she accepted them, wouldn't it imply that she was an easy woman? Violet suddenly felt unlucky lately, always encountering bad luck in her love life.
But she wouldn't take these things. Instead, she decided to send them back through a courier service.
With this in mind, Violet hurried to the front desk to get the contact number for the delivery company.
However, just as she arrived at the reception, Max came out of the office. He had observed Aiden's display of goodwill towards Violet earlier.
Being a man himself, he knew he couldn't compare to Aiden's wealth. However, Max believed that Violet was not the type to be swayed by money, so he wanted to test her intentions.
