Chapter 923 My Target Is Not You
On the other side, the dark ocean was lit only by the moonlight.
The white speedboat kept tearing through the waves, spraying water everywhere.
Violet, still rattled from everything that had happened, snapped back to reality and immediately reached for Julie, whispering, "You okay?"
Julie was fine, but she felt embarrassed because Violet was way braver than her.
While Julie was frozen with fear, Violet seemed fearless, almost like she didn't care about the danger.
"Violet, I'm okay," Julie said, looking down.
Under the bright moonlight, her eyes were filled with sadness and guilt.
She whispered, "Violet, you shouldn't have come. They're after me, not you."
"Don't say that. We gotta believe we can both get out of this," Violet said, squeezing her hand to give her some courage.
"You know Brady's good at what he does, right?"
With Violet's reassurance, Julie felt her fear and guilt ease a bit. She nodded slightly, "I believe."
"Then you gotta listen to me from now on, okay?" Violet said, though she wasn't sure if Miles would kill them.
But she had been kidnapped once before, so she was much calmer than Julie.
"Okay, I'll listen to you," Julie nodded obediently.
Violet then looked around the speedboat. They were still speeding across the dark ocean.
If they wanted to escape, another speedboat would have to appear. Jumping into the sea was not an option; they would either be killed by the fierce man or drown.
So jumping into the sea was out of the question.
After carefully examining the surroundings, Violet had no choice but to turn her gaze to the man sitting at the front of the boat, who was fiddling with a sharp knife with a stern expression.
If they could push this guy off the boat, they might have a chance to survive.
Otherwise, once he took them to their territory, escaping would be nearly impossible.
Violet had a bad impression of Vesperia, knowing they often did despicable things.
So even though Miles was handsome and charming, she felt no goodwill towards him.
After carefully planning her strategy, Violet leaned close to Julie's ear to share her plan while Miles wasn't paying attention.
She would push Miles, and then they would work together to push the burly man off the boat.
Of course, the plan sounded good, but Violet knew it would be difficult to execute.
This man, like Brady, was very strong.
To push him off, brute force wouldn't work; they would need to outsmart him.
With that in mind, Violet and Julie exchanged a glance.
Violet stood up and slowly moved towards the front of the boat, which was swaying as it sped along.
As Violet reached the front, Miles finally noticed her out of the corner of his eye.
He turned around instantly, raising his knife and pointing it at Violet, his tone unfriendly as usual, "Take one more step, and I might just throw you overboard."
"Would you dare?" Violet said, looking at the knife pointed at her throat, keeping her cool.
Miles narrowed his icy blue eyes, coldly staring at this Crestoria woman.
He had dealt with Brady before and knew he wasn't someone to mess with.
So he preferred not to provoke Brady's woman.
But Violet had the same courage as Brady, showing no fear of him.
Instead, she was challenging him step by step.
Miles wasn't sure if he would lose his patience and kill her on the spot, but he was certain that if she provoked him one more time, he would get angry.
So, he coldly said, trying to keep his patience, "You're not my target. I'm taking you along because I have no choice. Stay put, and I'll send you back when this is over."
His words sounded kind, and Violet almost wanted to thank him, but she knew how ruthless they were. She would never leave Julie alone to be killed by them.
