Chapter 770 Is She Here on a Business Trip or to Keep an Eye on Mr. Hall
Outside the suite, Charlotte stormed out, clutching her torn blouse, her face pale with anger.
She was livid—Violet had ruined such a perfect opportunity.
What was Violet doing here in Thornwick at this time?
Was she on a business trip too, or was she here to keep an eye on Brady?
The thought made Charlotte wary.
If Violet were here to spy, her plans would be thwarted. She clenched her fists, determined to find a way to be with Brady.
Later, Brady had to attend to some work, and Violet didn't linger or mention Charlotte's earlier attempt to seduce him.
She planned to handle Charlotte herself. So, as soon as she left Brady's room, she called Charlotte to arrange a meeting.
This time, Violet was going on the offensive.
Charlotte, unsure if Violet had seen through her, decided to play it safe and accepted the invitation with a seemingly innocent demeanor.
They met at the hotel's fifth-floor restaurant.
Charlotte had changed into a new blouse, looking fresh and composed, without a trace of the earlier embarrassment. She approached Violet confidently.
"Mrs. Hall, sorry to keep you waiting," Charlotte said politely.
"No worries, I haven't been waiting long. Please, have a seat," Violet replied warmly, inviting her to sit.
Charlotte smiled and glanced at Violet, trying to gauge if she was suspicious.
Earlier, in the suite, she had almost succeeded, but Violet had shown up unexpectedly.
Despite the obvious seduction attempt, Violet hadn't scolded her, only made some suggestive comments.
Charlotte couldn't tell if Violet was suspicious or not.
But Charlotte wasn't one to back down easily. Even if Violet was suspicious, she had ways to dispel her doubts.
"Mrs. Hall, I'm sorry about earlier with Mr. Hall. I don't know what happened with my blouse; the buttons just popped open. I apologize," Charlotte began as she sat down.
Violet, not in a hurry to expose her, casually flipped through the menu, her expression neutral. "Ms. Devereux, there's no need to explain. Sometimes our blouse buttons do come loose. I've had that happen to me before," she said, planning to catch Charlotte red-handed later.
If she accused her now or demanded her resignation, Charlotte might deny everything.
After all, nothing had happened.
"Thank you for understanding, Mrs. Hall. I won't make that mistake again," Charlotte said, sounding genuinely remorseful.
"Ms. Devereux, don't worry about it. I wasn't upset. Let's enjoy our meal. This restaurant has some great dishes. Take a look and see what you'd like," Violet said, handing her the menu with a gentle tone.
Charlotte hesitated but took the menu. "Thank you."
Could Violet be that naive? Had she not noticed anything?
Maybe she was just that clueless.
With that thought, Charlotte's doubts eased, and she began to order happily.
As they waited for their food, Violet tried to get closer to her. "By the way, I received the rice cakes you sent me. Thank you, they were delicious."
"I'm glad you liked them, Mrs. Hall. I'll make sure to get you rice cakes every day," Charlotte said, trying to be endearing.
"That's not necessary. We're friends now, after all."
Friends?
Charlotte was taken aback. Did Violet consider her a friend? Was she truly that oblivious?
Violet took a sip of water and asked, "What's wrong? Ms. Devereux, don't you want to be friends with us?"
Charlotte snapped out of her thoughts and smiled. "Of course, it's an honor to be friends with you, Mrs. Hall."
"Good."
"By the way, Mrs. Hall, are you here for business?" Charlotte asked, trying to probe her intentions.
