Chapter 1040 Do You Want Your Beloved's Breath?

Austin spoke quietly, "Mr. Hart, can I try to win Emily back?"

Douglas was taken aback, his expression conflicted. "Austin, is it true that Emily and Lucien...?" He knew about Lucien.

Emily had been infatuated with Lucien before, but he didn't reciprocate her feelings.

Who would have thought that after more than a year apart, they would get entangled again?

"It's true. He's also pursuing Emily. You know about the time she didn't come home, right? She lied and said she was staying at a friend's house." Austin revealed everything about Emily without missing a beat.

He knew Emily wasn't coming back, so he figured everyone should be miserable together.

If he was going down, she wasn't going alone.

Douglas fell silent, his eyes growing more agitated. "Austin, even though you don't want compensation, Emily betrayed you. I'll give you an apartment on Park Avenue."

"You must accept it."

Austin's eyes lit up at the mention of a Park Avenue apartment. Those were high-end properties, worth a fortune! Breaking up and getting a place out of it? He was making a profit.

However, if he actually married Emily, he would get much more than just one apartment.

Austin thought it over and decided he still needed to win Douglas over to agree to their marriage. So, he maintained a calm facade and said, "Mr. Hart, I really don't need it. I'll work hard to win Emily back and not let Lucien toy with her."

Douglas was touched by his words and sighed deeply, "No need to be polite. Our family owes you."

Given the current mess, Douglas knew an engagement was out of the question, but that Lucien character... he wouldn't let him lay a finger on his daughter.

Upstairs, in the bedroom.

Elodie was comforting Emily. A maid quietly came up to report, but Violet intercepted her. "Wait a bit. Emily is very upset."

The maid nodded. "Mrs. Hall, can you tell them for me?"

"What's going on?"

"Mr. Hart is giving Austin an apartment on Park Avenue." The maid was on Elodie and Emily's side, so she had to inform them.

Violet was stunned. Emily's dad was giving him an apartment?

Austin was really something.

"You can go now. I'll tell them." Violet, still in shock, dismissed the maid.

As she was about to enter the bedroom to tell Emily, Brady called her. "Honey, did you know Aria wants to join JK?"

Aria had come to the Hall Group.

With a resume in hand.

Brady wanted to avoid her, but she wasn't alone; Matilda had accompanied her.

Brady couldn't just avoid them, so he had them sit in the executive office.

Then Matilda mentioned arranging for Aria to start tomorrow. Brady, hearing she wanted to join JK, knew he had to consult Violet.

So, under the pretense of handling urgent business, Brady stepped out of the office and called Violet from the end of the hallway.

"I know. Did she come to you, or did Matilda?" Violet rubbed her temples, feeling the frustration build.

First Emily, now Aria. Violet was really getting annoyed.

"Matilda brought her," Brady's voice was low and calm.

"Let her in. We can't go against Matilda," Violet said sourly.

Brady picked up on her tone and chuckled, "I get it. You're with Emily, right?"

Violet sighed, "What do you get?"

"How about this? I'll send her to one of JK's factories? That way, she'll be far from you, and you won't have to see her?" Brady suggested.

"Even though I don't like her being around, Matilda won't agree to her being placed in a factory. Forget it, just let her in," Violet said resignedly.

"Are you sure?" Brady didn't want Violet to feel wronged. "You don't have to put up with it. I'll handle Matilda."

Violet laughed softly, "No, let her in. I could use a good opponent to practice with."

Brady frowned, not quite understanding. "What do you mean?"

"She's a good designer. It'll be good practice for me." Violet didn't want to elaborate. She already had a plan to deal with Aria without tarnishing the Hall family's reputation for charity work over the years.

"Alright, I'll go comfort Emily. Austin has really changed my view of professors." Violet didn't want to talk about Aria anymore, not wanting to spoil her mood.

"How so?" Brady, one hand in his pocket, was intrigued.

Violet scoffed, "His acting skills are wasted on teaching. He twisted the whole story and even got Emily's dad to give him a valuable apartment. Of course, Emily's dad willingly gave it. Impressive, right?"

Brady hummed thoughtfully, "He's a bit tricky."

"Make sure Emily is careful." Men understood men's behavior better.

"I know." Violet sighed, "I'll hang up now, honey."

Brady's voice dropped to a husky tone, "Honey, how about we finish what we started last night when you get home?"

Violet was silent.

"All you think about is sex?"

Brady chuckled, his voice seductive over the phone, "I can't help it. Just thinking about you makes me want you."

Brady continued in a low, husky voice, "Do you miss your honey's touch?"

His sexy, magnetic voice sent shivers down Violet's spine, making her legs weak and her cheeks flush. She retorted, "Do you miss me?"

"Yes." Brady smiled, "Why don't you come over now? We can warm up a bit."

Violet felt a tingle, biting her lip, and huffed, "You're such a rogue."

"Then come over. I'll be waiting."

"Enough, I'm hanging up." Violet couldn't handle the steamy conversation any longer.

She needed to tell Emily about Austin getting a valuable apartment first.
