Chapter 20 She Had a Crush on Mr. Green for a Long Time

"That's right. Mr. White even asked her for her number!" Laura, the designer with Violet, sarcastically added, "I saw her giving him her number!"
"Tut, so seductive!"
"So, she went to Mr. Green's office early in the morning to seduce him. It makes me feel uncomfortable just thinking about it. Mr. Green is our male god here!"
"Enough, stop talking... She's coming." Laura saw Violet approaching and quickly told the other designers not to say anything more. "If she really manages to get close to Mr. Green and badmouths us in front of him, it's not worth it."
"Okay, okay, let's get back to work." The others dispersed immediately.
Laura stood in place, her heavily lined eyes fixed on Violet, and an inexplicable surge of jealousy overwhelmed her.
She had secretly loved Mr. Green for a long time.
How could she let herself be seduced by an intern like Violet?
With this mischievous thought in mind, Laura crossed her arms and waited for Violet to approach.
Soon, Violet walked over, noticing Laura's imposing gaze, and her heart sank.
She shouted out in an annoyed tone, " Laura, good morning."
Laura feigned a smile and replied, "Good morning. What are you holding?"
"Oh, it's the couture design task given to me by Mr. Green." Violet, not suspecting any guard or hostility from her, explained in detail.
But as soon as she finished speaking, Laura widened her eyes and her face gradually turned unpleasant.
It was only her second day at work and Mr. Green actually assigned her the couture business?
And he claimed he didn't flirt with her?
Just the thought of Violet flirting with Max in his office made Laura extremely uncomfortable. She had been at JK for so long and only this year did she become qualified to handle couture design business.
How could an inexperienced intern like Violet get it?
No, they're not the same.
She didn't flirt with Mr. Green, but this shameless person did.
The more Laura thought about it, the angrier she became.
She couldn't help but tighten her fingers into a fist.
Taking advantage of Violet's return to the office, Laura pretended to walk and quietly stretched out her right foot, blocking Violet's path.
Violet was wearing pointed high heels.
With a simple kick, she effortlessly brought Violet down to the ground.
There was an audible "thud," and Violet's delicate body fell heavily to the ground, her files scattering everywhere.
She looked completely disheveled.
But that wasn't the worst part. Most importantly, when her knees hit the ground, she scraped them and felt a sharp pain that almost made her burst into tears.
"Oh... Ms. Devereux... Are you alright?" Laura observed Violet, who was sprawled on the ground like a puppy. A sinister smile crept across her ugly face as she pretended to show concern, her mouth opening and closing.
Violet glanced up at her and initially thought it was an accident. But then she noticed the unmistakable sneer on Laura's bright red lips.
She understood.
Laura had purposely tripped her!
But why? They didn't have any grudges between them, right?
She had even stayed late to help Laura!
Violet couldn't comprehend why Laura would target her like this.
However, regardless of her confusion, Violet remembered something her teacher had once said in school - "Society is like a melting pot filled with all sorts of people. Don't get too close to anyone; just focus on doing your best. Because if you open your heart, you have no idea whether the other person is a human or a ghost."
Now, Violet realized how true her teacher's words were.
Even if she didn't think Laura held any grudges against her, wasn't Laura her mentor appointed by Mr. Green?
And yet?
Just as Laura was enjoying watching Violet's embarrassment, Mr. Green, alerted by the commotion, appeared. Without hesitation, he knelt down and helped Violet up.
"Ms. Devereux, are you alright?"
Violet shook her head. "I'm fine," she said, although her knee was throbbing in pain.
She lowered her head and saw that it had been scraped and was bleeding.
Max also noticed the injury. "You're bleeding. Let me take you to the company's medical room."
The Hall family group had a dedicated medical room for its employees, which was considered a benefit for the staff.
"No, it's fine. I can just wipe it with a tissue," Violet replied, not wanting to make a big deal out of a small scrape and rush to the medical room.
This stumble served as a lesson for her.
She learned from her mistakes, realizing that she could no longer naively and foolishly trust and treat Laura like her mentor.
Being carefree meant truly treating Laura as her own mentor.
"What if the scrape gets infected?" Max wanted to show off his caring side, so he displayed his gentle and warm nature without any regard for being her direct boss.
Supporting Violet, he guided her out and said, "Come on, you're injured. Let's go. If your wound gets worse, it might hinder our company's design work."
Violet: …
Is Mr. Green making a big fuss over nothing?
It's just a small injury.
But if he insists on going to the infirmary, then go ahead.
Violet no longer resists and follows Max to the infirmary.
The sight of the director personally supporting an intern to the infirmary makes Laura, who thought she could take advantage of Violet's misfortune, pale and tremble with anger.
It's a failed attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, giving them a chance for nothing.
This scheming woman! She knew she must have seduced Mr. Green!
So infuriating!
Violet was supported by Max and taken to the medical office on the ninth floor.
As they walked together, many Hall family employees passing by couldn't help but turn their heads to look at them.
After all, they were a handsome guy and a beautiful girl.
Naturally pleasing to the eye.
