Chapter 864 Act Like You've Abandoned Me
Two days later, Crestoria's most renowned design competition kicked off as planned, while the investigation into Jade's disappearance continued.
Brady stayed on the sidelines, keeping his cool and waiting for Darian to slip up and reveal his true colors.
At 10 AM, Violet showed up representing JK, bringing the meticulously designed pieces she'd been working on for the past few days.
This competition had drawn the top designers from all over the country.
Winning would skyrocket the JK brand to instant fame.
It would also give her the leverage to end her contract with Darian and stop relying on him.
So, for such an important event, Violet was determined to win.
At 10:10 AM, the competition officially began.
The whole thing was live-streamed, both online and offline.
In the first round, designers presented their works to the judges.
Winners would move on to the next round.
They'd keep competing through several rounds, leading up to the showdown.
For a talented designer like Violet, the first round should've been a piece of cake. At least, that's what she thought.
Max was confident, too. He'd seen Violet's starry sky series chiffon dress that morning. It was stunning.
It had every chance of making it to the showdown.
But who would've thought that in the first round, where advancing should've been a given, she got eliminated?
Violet was stunned. How could she be out in the first round?
To make matters worse, other designers started mocking her, saying JK's designers were overrated.
"Can't even pass the first round, and you call yourselves industry leaders? What a joke." They whispered.
Some even said Violet was only famous because of Brady and that she was overrated.
The sarcasm and slander made Violet furious. She hadn't gotten to where she was because of Brady.
Humiliated and angry, she was ready to argue with the judges, but then she calmed down.
Being eliminated in the first round meant someone had set her up.
And next, she'd have to go to Darian for help.
So, thinking of this, she wasn't as flustered.
However, Max, who had come with her, was a bit anxious. With Violet's talent, it was impossible not to pass the first round.
"Violet, what do we do now?"
"Mr. Green, don't we have Mr. Voss?" Violet regained her composure and said calmly.
Max looked puzzled. "Mr. Voss?"
"Aren't we collaborating with him? He has a responsibility to help us." Violet said, not waiting for Max to respond. She took out her phone to call Brady while walking out.
But actually, she didn't need to call Brady; he already knew about it.
When the call connected, Violet asked, "Honey, should I go find him?"
"Yeah, I'll go with you. We need to put on a show." Brady said in a low voice.
"Act like you've abandoned me?" Mentioning acting, Violet instantly smiled, not feeling the sting of being eliminated today.
"Act like we're getting a divorce."
"Divorce?"
"Yeah, just do as I say." Brady didn't want to drag this out. The longer Jade was missing, the more dangerous it became.
He was already very annoyed with Darian.
For him, being separated from Violet for several days was torture.
So, he wanted to resolve this quickly.
But if he confronted him head-on, someone like Darian might act extremely. Brady didn't want to take that risk.
So, he could only use this method to draw him out.
"Okay, I'll do whatever you say." Violet agreed.
After finishing the call with Brady, Violet was about to get in the car when Darian sent her a message: [Violet, I watched today's live competition. I didn't expect you to be eliminated. Don't be sad, I'm here.]
Looking at the message, Violet felt no warmth, only a chill.
He must have orchestrated her elimination!
She was increasingly unable to recognize the current Darian.
To achieve his goals, he could ruin her competition.
The last bit of good impression she had of him was completely shattered.
