Chapter 312 Couldn't Give False Hope
At JK Design Office, Violet had been brainstorming ideas for Amelia's dress all afternoon when Quentin, who she hadn't heard from in ages, suddenly called.
He invited her to dinner that evening to discuss her mother's inheritance.
When it came to her mom, Violet couldn't say no and happily accepted.
After she hung up the phone, it was almost quitting time. Luckily, Brady hadn't come looking for her; otherwise, she would've had to think up another excuse.
Every time she had to make an excuse, her head felt like it was going to explode. Violet put away her design drafts, grabbed her water cup, and headed to the break room. After the poisoning incident last time, she was super cautious whenever she went there, afraid of another mishap.
It was weird that the Hall Group's top-notch security system couldn't find the video from that day.
Even though Brady had been investigating, he hadn't found any clues.
So much time had passed that Violet had given up on finding the culprit; she just wanted to be more careful to avoid any more accidents.
In the break room, Violet filled her cup with hot water and walked out.
She bumped into Max, who was holding some documents. Max wanted to ask her out to dinner.
Violet awkwardly smiled and said, "Mr. Green, I have plans tonight."
"Plans?" Max was taken aback, his expression freezing.
He thought, 'Could Violet have a boyfriend? Damn! Why haven't I confessed my feelings sooner?
'Why do Iwait until she has a boyfriend to make a move?'
Max wanted to slap himself; he felt like such a coward.
"Yeah, I have plans," Violet said calmly. "Mr. Green, I'll be leaving soon."
Max glanced at her and suddenly asked, "Violet, do you have a boyfriend?" He needed to know; if she did, he'd wait!
Violet didn't want to say she had a boyfriend, but she didn't want to lead him on either. After a brief pause, she said, "Yes, I have a boyfriend."
He thought, 'So she really has a boyfriend.' Max looked at her in shock, feeling like he'd been hit over the head with a hammer.
"Mr. Green, I'll head back to my desk now." Seeing his devastated expression, Violet didn't want to stay any longer.
She didn't want to hurt anyone, so she couldn't give false hope to someone she didn't like.
"Alright, you can go back." Max, looking heartbroken, stared blankly at her.
Max thought he was such an idiot, wondering why he hadn't confessed earlier.
Now that Violet had a boyfriend, he couldn't pursue her anymore.
Max felt like he had fallen into a deep, bottomless pit, his body feeling empty. He stood there mocking himself for a while before accepting reality.
But he wasn't willing to give up. He liked Violet too much to let go.
After thinking it over, Max decided to wait for her to break up. He didn't believe a 21-year-old like Violet would stay with one boyfriend forever. Especially since he was a successful man in his late twenties, he believed he was her best match.
Max would wait!
Once he figured it out, his disappointment vanished, and he returned to his office to work.
At 5 PM, Brady was busy with company matters and forgot to meet Violet. With some free time, Violet went downstairs to meet Quentin.
Originally, she didn't want Quentin to come to the Hall Group, but he had already arrived.
Violet had no choice but to avoid the Hall Group people and quickly got into his car.
However, as she was sneaking into the car, Leana happened to arrive and saw Violet getting into a black Porsche Cayenne.
Leana immediately frowned. She knew Brady had been supporting Violet recently, and that car wasn't Brady's. She thought, 'It certainly can't be Violet's either; I've already investigated Violet's situation. Violet has been kicked out by the Devereux family and is penniless.
'There is no way she could afford such an expensive car.
'And the car clearly belongs to a man, so is this woman seeing two men at the same time?' Thinking this might be the case, Leana immediately turned around and followed them.
