Chapter 255 Violet Is Missing?
"Emily, it's up to you." Anna took a sip of her coffee and said coldly, "But let's get one thing straight. If the police fail to find Violet here, I want you gone, Emily!"
Her gaze shifted subtly towards Eileen, a silent command passing between them. Seizing the opportunity while Emily was preoccupied with her phone call to the police, Eileen slipped away to deal with Violet.
Meanwhile, Violet was trapped in the basement, desperately trying to pry the boards apart and escape. The Devereux family, she knew, would stop at nothing to further their own interests, even if it meant forcing her into a marriage with the Stephond family. The audacity of it all made her blood boil. They had already cast her aside, stripped her of her Devereux identity, yet they still sought to control her life. She knew she had to escape.With every ounce of strength she could muster, Violet pulled at the boards. Her fingers bled, and all she had to show for her efforts was a small opening. But she didn't falter, she couldn't. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed from above, causing her heart to pound in her chest. Swiftly, she covered the small opening with a sack and stepped back, waiting for the intruder.The basement door creaked open, and in walked Eileen, accompanied by a burly man. Their intentions were clear, and Violet's instincts screamed danger.
As she cautiously retreated, Eileen wasted no time. "Knock her out, quickly," she ordered the man.He nodded, advancing towards Violet with a sedative in hand. Violet tried to flee, but she was no match for him. After a brief struggle, the sedative was forced down her throat, and her world faded to black.Eileen, satisfied that Violet was unconscious, left the basement with the man. Back in the living room, Emily had barely hung up the phone when the police arrived. She relayed her concerns, but Anna dismissed them as baseless accusations, allowing the police to conduct their search.
Unfamiliar with the sprawling Devereux mansion, the officers failed to locate Violet and departed empty-handed.Emily, unable to bear the hostile atmosphere any longer, left the mansion. Her heart pounded with anger and worry as she returned to her car.
Once inside, she took a moment to collect herself before deciding to call her cousin Quentin. He was well-connected and might be able to help.She dialed Quentin's number, and after a brief conversation, he advised her to return home while he figured out a plan. But Emily couldn't bring herself to leave. She was convinced that Violet was still somewhere within the Devereux mansion, but she had no idea where.
The thought of leaving Violet in danger filled her with guilt. So, she parked her car in a secluded spot near the mansion and decided to wait it out.She was certain they wouldn't keep Violet hidden forever. If they did, she would report Violet as missing and have the mansion thoroughly searched. Meanwhile, at Hall Group's headquarters, Brady wrapped up his work for the day, intending to have dinner with Violet. He tried calling her, but her phone was switched off.A frown creased Brady's forehead. He tried calling again, but to no avail. A sense of unease crept over him, but he dismissed the idea of Violet being kidnapped.
He left his phone and went to join Arthur for a meal. Coincidentally, Arthur was in the middle of discussing the legal procedures for an IPO with Quentin.
As the conversation wore on, Quentin seemed increasingly distracted, his thoughts consumed by Violet's sudden disappearance.Noticing Quentin's preoccupation, Arthur politely said, "Quentin, if you have something urgent to attend to, we can continue our discussion tomorrow."Quentin offered an apologetic smile. "Thank you for understanding, Arthur. I do have a pressing matter to attend to."Arthur nodded, bidding Quentin farewell.
As Quentin exited the office, he dialed Emily's number. The conversation about Violet's disappearance reached Arthur's ears, causing his expression to change instantly. 'Violet is missing?' he thought, 'Does Brady know about this?'
