Chapter 169 I'll Take Good Care of You

Violet Devereux found herself forcibly ushered into the plush interior of a Bentley by Brady Hall. By the time she snapped out of her daze and reached for the door handle, it was, predictably, already locked.

"What's the big idea, Brady?" Her voice carried a hint of impatience as she turned to face the man sitting beside her.

"Lunchtime, isn't it? My treat," Brady said casually, snapping his fingers at the driver.

At the signal, the driver promptly started the car, which began to speed off.

"I appreciate the gesture, Brady," Violet said, recognizing the futility of her situation. "But having lunch just the two of us isn't quite appropriate given our boss-employee relationship."

She stopped struggling and clutched her design sketches tightly, her tone far from friendly.

Another person might have been kicked out of the car for that tone of voice, but Brady Hall treated Violet differently.

He was smitten by her, and her current defiance was of no consequence to him yet – he was confident he'd win her over eventually.

"Shouldn't I reward an employee who just clinched a deal with Loraine Plahn for the Hall family?" Brady raised his eyebrows subtly. "Are you really going to deny the CEO of the Hall family some personal time, Ms. Devereux?"

His voice was low and magnetic, filling the cramped space with a cello's resonant elegance that unsettled something in Violet's chest.

If Brady wasn't so controlling, he really would be the epitome of perfection – handsome, wealthy, influential, with a build to match, and that voice...

But a perfect man like that wasn't meant for someone like her.

Especially since he was Henry and Nicole's father.

That fact alone was a deal-breaker.

"Thanks for the offer, Brady." Violet shook off the feeling his voice had stirred within her and replied promptly, "I've got other commitments. Really, no need to go out of your way."

After she spoke, Brady cast a side glance at her, his dangerous gaze lingering on her lovely profile. He leaned in close, his intense gaze fixed on her, and he murmured, "You do understand what I'm saying, don't you?"

He knew she understood.

She was just resistant.

"Brady, as I've said before," Violet dodged his advancing presence and turned her face slightly away, "I've already made my position clear."
But the more she turned her face away, the more he wanted to get close. Her scent, always sweet and milky, seemed to captivate him endlessly.

Brady Hall's gaze deepened, a growing desire for this woman seizing him more with each passing moment. A possessive impulse surged through him like a wave, overwhelming his thoughts and racing through his body until it dominated his mind.

He felt an impulsive urge to kiss this resistant woman forcefully. As the silence in the car increased, so did his primal yearnings, heating up until he couldn't resist any longer. Brady pressed the button, lowering the privacy partition.

As the dark barrier slid into place, Brady captured Violet Devereux's chin in his firm grasp. He forced her face towards his and planted a fierce kiss on her soft, peach-like lips.

He was, after all, only a 28-year-old man – a young man with a fervent desire for intimacy that had been suppressed, except for that one calculated exception with Violet Devereux.

He had never been one to casually touch any woman, but this kiss was intense, not giving Violet any quarter.

Violet felt as if her mind was drained, her body unable to move. Her mouth was filled with the overwhelming taste of Brady's tobacco, an aggressive flavor she wanted to escape. But his tongue persistently entwined with hers, allowing no retreat, and amidst the intensity, Brady's fingers dug into her soft waist as he demanded, "Be mine, yeah? I'll take good care of you."

It was merely an excuse men use when they want you, and Violet Devereux knew it. So, she wasn't fooled.
