Chapter 643 Missing

James angrily slammed the hotel phone down, the loud noise startling his assistant who was busy organizing his things nearby.

The assistant quickly came over and asked, "Mr. Lawson, what happened?"

"I've had it with the Devereux family," James fumed, glaring at the phone now lying on the carpet. "They actually had the nerve to threaten me?"

"Is this about Ms. Patton?" The assistant had overheard their conversation at the Devereux villa earlier.

"What did her daughter do to end up in prison?" James seethed for a moment before calming down. "Look into it and get back to me by the end of the day."

The assistant nodded, helped James to the nearby sofa, and then went off to investigate.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the hotel lobby.

Eileen had just exited the hotel when she nearly bumped into Ethan, who was standing by the entrance. Fortunately, Ethan stepped aside just in time, but as they brushed past each other, Eileen shot him a puzzled glance.

She didn't think much of it and quickly hailed a cab.

Ethan, however, watched her get into the taxi, his gaze narrowing slightly before he and his assistant headed into the lobby. He had been following his father from the Devereux family meeting.

What was she doing in the lobby?

Ethan pondered for a moment before deciding to ask.

At the front desk, the receptionist blushed slightly at the sight of such a handsome man and immediately greeted him warmly, "Sir, how can I help you?"

Ethan gave a charming smile and asked, "Did a woman just come in to see Mr. James Lawson?"

At the mention of James' name, the receptionist nodded quickly, "Yes, are you also looking for him?"

Ethan nodded. "Did she say anything to him?"

This question touched on client privacy.

She wasn't supposed to disclose such information, but Ethan was just too attractive.

She couldn't resist.

"It's okay, just tell me. I won't say a word," Ethan said, placing a finger to his lips in a shushing gesture, his voice low and enticing.

The receptionist, overwhelmed by his charm, let her guard down and said, "That woman was a bit strange. She left a message for Mr. James Lawson saying that if he didn't give her an answer by tomorrow, she would burn Evelyn's urn."

"Really strange, who does something so awful, threatening to burn an urn," the receptionist said, looking both surprised and appalled.

Ethan understood, his brow furrowing slightly. He thanked the receptionist and left the hotel with his assistant.

It seemed his father was being threatened.

But this situation was getting more complicated.

So, did his father really have a connection with Evelyn? Ethan found it hard to believe his father would cheat, but James's urgency to return home and find this deceased woman suggested otherwise.

Eldoria, a luxurious castle.

The Lawson family's youngest daughter, Juniper, had just returned from a trip abroad yesterday. This morning, as she came down for breakfast, she noticed that the large dining room was empty except for her and her mother.

Her brother and father were nowhere to be seen.

Had they both gone out on business?

Juniper sat down at the table, took a bite of toast, and asked her mother, "Mom, where are Dad and Ethan? I didn't see them when I got back last night. Are they on a business trip?" She had been too tired to ask about them last night.

Juniper's mother, Helen Smith, elegantly spread some peanut butter on her toast and said, "I have no idea what those two are up to. They both disappeared a couple of days ago."

Helen had even gone to the company to ask, and the company told her they were on a business trip.

When she called them, they gave her vague excuses about being away on business.

"Disappeared? Really? Why didn't you call the police?" Juniper was genuinely worried, thinking her brother and father had gone missing. She was so shocked she dropped her toast.
