Chapter 641 There Are Conditions
James looked at Eileen and Pelinka with a calm demeanor, exuding an air of gentlemanly sophistication. "I just want to know how Violet is doing now. I saw in the news that she married into the Hall family. Is that true?" The Hall Group had wiped all news about Violet and Brady from the internet.
James had tried to find information but could only uncover bits and pieces.
For instance, Evelyn had died, leaving behind a daughter who married into a wealthy family. That high-profile marriage had brought this photo to light.
"If you're willing to tell me, I'm prepared to offer a reward."
As soon as James finished speaking, Eileen's eyes began to scrutinize him. She looked him up and down, and her eyes widened. She had been too angry to notice James's appearance earlier.
Now that she looked closely, he actually bore some resemblance to Violet.
Eileen immediately stepped back towards Pelinka and whispered, "Mom, does this man look familiar to you?"
Pelinka squinted at James, and after a few seconds, she said to Eileen, "He looks a lot like that wretched Violet."
"Yeah, could he be her biological father?" Eileen sneered.
Pelinka, unaware of the rumors circulating online, raised an eyebrow at her daughter-in-law, Eileen, puzzled. "What do you mean? What biological father?"
"Mom, let me tell you, that wretched Violet isn't even a Devereux. She's an illegitimate child!" Eileen said coldly, gritting her teeth.
"Really?" Pelinka was shocked.
Although she despised Violet and Evelyn, she had never considered such a possibility.
"Really. We could visit Gerry in prison to confirm it," Eileen whispered to Pelinka. "But look at this man. He seems to have some background. We could use him to get our precious Lilian out. Lilian is the only bloodline of the Devereux family. What do you think, Mom?"
"Do as you think best," Pelinka agreed. They had to save Lilian.
As Eileen had said, Lilian was now the only bloodline of the Devereux family.
They had to do everything to get her out.
After the two women finished their whispered conversation and made their calculations, Eileen walked back to James, lifting her chin. "Mr. Lawson, you want to know about Violet? Fine, but there are conditions."
"What conditions?" James remained calm and composed as he looked at Eileen.
"My daughter was framed by Violet and is now in prison. If you can help me get my daughter out, I'll tell you everything about Violet, including her mother's story," Eileen said, guessing that James might also be interested in Evelyn's story.
However, she might have underestimated James, the businessman.
Even if he wanted to know, he could still discern right from wrong.
So, he smiled slightly, his expression unchanged. "Violet framed your daughter?"
"Yes."
"But I don't have the power to get someone out of prison," James said, smiling gently again.
He appeared completely non-threatening.
But the coldness in his eyes, if one looked closely, could make anyone shiver.
"Then I'm sorry, Mr. Lawson. Please leave," Eileen said with a cold smile.
James didn't intend to argue further. He calmly said, "Sorry to have bothered you," and left with his assistant.
Eileen stood there, watching him leave.
She couldn't hold back any longer and hurriedly called out, "Mr. Lawson, don't you want to know where Evelyn is buried? If you help us, I'll return Evelyn's urn to you."
This successfully caught James's attention. He stopped and turned to look at Eileen. "You're willing to give me her urn?"
Eileen nodded. "Of course. She's not part of the Devereux family anymore. What's the point of us keeping it?"
"Alright, I'll think about it."
"Mr. Lawson, time is of the essence. I'll give you two days to consider," Eileen continued.
James gave her a silent look, then turned and walked out with his assistant.
Once outside, James's face darkened slightly as he spoke to his assistant. "Look into this family."
He was almost certain that Evelyn hadn't had a happy life here. As for Violet, who had been driven out and married into the Hall family, they probably hadn't treated her well either.
If they had indeed mistreated Evelyn and Violet, he wouldn't let the Devereux family off the hook.
