Chapter 400 She Remains a Shame to Humanity
An hour later, JK's first public fashion show wrapped up like a dream. At the end, the designers hit the stage, with Max, Violet, and the rest of JK's crew lining up to take a bow.
Boom! Flashes, wild applause, and lights went off like crazy.
Everyone was totally stoked about JK's show.
After the curtain call, the host jumped on stage to chat with JK's designers. "Mr. Green, this show was a smash hit. What’s going through your mind?" The host shoved the mic in Max's face.
Max glanced at the media cameras, feeling all the feels. The show was surprisingly successful , and the crowd loved it. Especially Violet, who totally nailed it after he gave her a shot.
But the whole Fanny situation left Max feeling kinda guilty, so he couldn’t be too pumped. He answered humbly, "First off, big thanks to all our friends and folks in the design and fashion world, reporters, and all the guests. Thanks for the love. Also, this show rocked because of the hard work from all our designers at JK."
"So yeah, the real MVPs here are our designers." Max finished and started clapping.
The crowd joined in, and soon the place was roaring with applause.
The host kept going, "We know JK's Fanny had some issues and bailed, but you still showed her work. Why’s that?"
"That’s Fanny’s personal biz, and I can’t spill the tea." Max wasn’t about to let the media hound Fanny any more.
Seeing Max wasn’t gonna budge, the host smiled and moved on, "I heard Ms. DeVereux’s work got the most love in this JK show. Ms. DeVereux, how’s that feel?"
"Especially since you just graduated, right? That’s pretty rad." The host probably remembered the press conference JK had a few days back.
No one knew if the host was trying to stir the pot with Violet.
It was kinda awkward.
Even though Fanny had cleared things up, Violet’s rep took a hit.
Luckily, Brady had those videos and interviews scrubbed, but now the host was poking at the sore spot again.
Violet wasn’t thrilled about the host bringing up her age and fresh grad status. It made her seem like she only had youth going for her.
But this was live, so Violet had to roll with it. She said a few thank-yous.
Just as she wrapped up, the giant screen behind them, which was playing music and show clips, suddenly went black. Everyone gasped and stared at the screen.
People started whispering.
A few seconds later, the screen came back on, but instead of show clips, it showed a video of Violet’s dad, Gerry, in a hospital bed with his face blurred out.
Next to the video, there was a long message: [JK’s new designer Violet is out having a blast while her dad’s sick. He wants her to visit, but she coldly refuses, even refusing to support him. No matter how famous or rich Violet gets, she’s a disgrace to society, a shame to humanity, and a total moral failure.]
As the text and video played, everyone started gossiping.
In the VIP area, Brady saw it too. His eyes darkened, and he snapped at his assistant Eddy, "Find out who did this."
Eddy got the message and jumped up to investigate.
