Chapter 737 Do You Remember Me

The red sports car zoomed down the highway like a streak of lightning.

Violet was getting nervous with the speed. "Emily, can you slow down a bit? Remember, I'm pregnant!"

"Oh shoot, I forgot! Sorry!" Emily said, easing off the gas.

She gave herself a light smack on the forehead. "I just get so caught up when I'm driving this car. I can't help but speed."

"Thank goodness nothing happened," Violet said with a relieved smile.

She knew Emily loved fast cars and didn't mean to drive recklessly.

"Hey, I almost forgot," Emily said, reaching into the center console and handing Violet a folder. "I found everything you asked me to look into."

"That fast?" Violet took the folder, surprised at Emily's efficiency.

How did she always manage to get things done so quickly?

"If I weren't fast, I wouldn't survive in this business," Emily laughed. She paused and added, "By the way, I checked it out myself. It is Darian."

Violet frowned, not too surprised.

She had already suspected as much from what Max had told her. Now that it was confirmed, she felt more awkward than shocked. "So, it is him."

"He's been living abroad, keeping a low profile these past few years. I couldn't find much on him," Emily continued.

He didn't have many friends, didn't attend social events, and there were no rumors about his personal life.

Information on him was scarce.

She couldn't imagine how he had become so low-key.

She still remembered him as the captain of their high school basketball team.

He was lively, outgoing, and handsome.

Many people had crushes on him.

But he had liked Violet, who didn't feel the same way.

After she turned him down, he disappeared.

He had been gone for many years.

Now he was suddenly back, and Violet wanted to invite him to join her company. Was this some kind of twisted fate?

"It doesn't matter. As long as it's him," Violet said, flipping through the documents Emily had gathered.

She felt a bit uneasy.

It was him.

Would he accept her invitation?

"Are you going to invite him?" Emily couldn't help but ask.

Violet nodded. "What else can I do? Just because I turned him down in high school, I should give up on this?" She was determined to get JK into the top-tier design companies.

JK already had a solid reputation in the industry.

But she wanted the kind of stability that came with being a god-tier brand.

Getting a genius designer like Darian would be a huge boost.

"I don't think a man would be that petty about his career," Violet said softly.

Emily shook her head. "Who knows? But you should be prepared for him to say no. Men can be even more ruthless than women when it comes to feelings."

Her dad had told her that.

It was probably true.

"Okay, I get it," Violet nodded, continuing to flip through Darian's file.

The car soon pulled up to the restaurant where they had planned to have lunch.

Emily parked the car and led Violet inside. They walked straight to their usual window seat.

After they sat down, Emily handed Violet the menu.

Violet didn't hesitate to start ordering.

As they were deciding on their meal, a tall man in casual clothes and a gray bucket hat stood across the street, hands in his pockets.

His deep eyes, shadowed by the brim of his hat, were fixed on the women inside the restaurant.

A long-lost intensity flickered in his gaze.

His tightly pressed lips parted slightly in a silent sigh.

'Violet, I'm back. Do you remember me?' He said in his heart.
