Chapter 1013 Austin Has No Other Skills, But He Is Quite Good at Dealing with Women
Lucien walked straight to his car as he left the school auditorium. The darkness outside and the streetlights cast deep shadows on his handsome profile.
When he reached his car, he opened the door and gently placed Emily inside. He fastened her seatbelt, then got in himself. With a low, rumbling roar, the black Mercedes sped away, its orange taillights quickly disappearing down the tree-lined road of the school. It swiftly merged into the bustling traffic ahead.
After driving for a while and putting some distance between them and the university gates, Lucien furrowed his brows slightly. He loosened his shirt collar and glanced at the unconscious woman beside him. He reached out with his right hand to gently touch her forehead, checking her temperature. Her forehead was burning hot.
He looked at her tightly shut eyes and guessed that Austin must have given her something. Was he really that desperate to get Emily into bed? The thought made Lucien's eyes darken, matching the ominous night outside the car window. That man might not have many skills, but he sure knew how to handle women. Better than him, perhaps?
Lucien withdrew his hand, gripped the steering wheel, and continued driving towards his apartment.
Meanwhile, back at the auditorium, Austin and Zachary had finished their small talk and returned to look for Emily. But she was nowhere to be seen near the bar. Austin stared blankly, alarm bells ringing in his head. Emily was gone? She drank that juice; she shouldn't be able to walk. Did someone take her?
Austin's first instinct was to look for Lucien, but he was missing, too. Austin's face darkened. Just then, Layla Scott, the teacher who had confessed to Lucien and was ignored, approached him. Jealous and bitter, she said, "Mr. Roberts, no need to look for your girlfriend. Professor Moreau took her."
"Can't even keep an eye on your own girlfriend?"
Austin's face twisted in anger, but he said nothing. His fingers tightened around his glass. He knew Lucien would try to steal her away! Damn it! He was so close to succeeding. He couldn't let his plan fall apart now.
"Mr. Roberts, shouldn't you do something?" Layla continued to egg him on. She was feeling pretty bitter after being rejected in public.
"Enough, Ms. Scott, I got it." Austin wasn't as brainless as she, shouting at every little thing. He quickly composed himself, set his glass on the bar, and strode out of the auditorium. Layla hurried to follow.
Outside, Layla kept pace with him. "Are you going to find Professor Moreau? Do you know where he lives?"
Lucien was a well-known, aristocratic professor at their university. He came from a wealthy family and had a high net worth. Teaching might just be a hobby for him. Eventually, he'd return to his family business. This was part of why Layla, who was attractive but not exceptionally beautiful, liked him. She wanted to marry a man as outstanding as Lucien.
"I know." Austin was aware of one of Lucien's upscale apartments, though he wasn't sure about the others.
"I'll go with you." Layla's eyes lit up when she heard he knew where Lucien lived.
Austin didn't mind her tagging along. She might even help distract Lucien. So, the two, united by their selfish motives, quickly got into the car and headed to one of Lucien's upscale apartments.
