Chapter 326 We Can Only Temporarily List You as a Suspect

In the Hall Group President's Office, Brady had just wrapped up a meeting with the execs when Eddy called him. "Mr. Hall, Ms. Devereux turned down your help."

Brady stopped in the hallway, eyebrows raised. "What did Violet say about handling it?"

"Nothing much. She just said she's innocent and thinks that's enough," Eddy replied.

Brady chuckled softly. "Eddy, stay put and keep me updated. I'll be there soon."

"Got it, Mr. Hall," Eddy answered quickly.

Brady hung up and stood there for a moment, a sly smile playing on his lips. Was Violet naive or just plain foolish?

Did she really think being innocent was enough to get her out of trouble?

Did she not realize who she was up against?

He had to tread carefully now. Arthur had warned him that Leana was gunning for Violet. He'd doubted it, thinking Leana wouldn't dare cross him. But it seemed she did.

Brady's eyes darkened. No one, not Leana or anyone else, could touch Violet under his watch.

At the police station, the officer handling the case sat down and started taking notes. "Ms. Devereux, tell me exactly what happened today."

Violet nodded. "I'm a designer at JK. Today, our team went to the show venue for an exchange. Afterward, we drew lots, and I got paired with Leana. She asked me to help her pick a dress in the dressing area. I couldn't refuse, so I went with her. While we were choosing, I have no idea how the necklace ended up in my pocket. That's what happened."

The officer thought for a moment. "Were there no surveillance cameras?"

She replied, "No, the venue's new, so not all the cameras are set up yet."

"Any witnesses?" the officer asked.

Violet shook her head. "I didn't notice anyone. I was focused on helping Leana."

The officer pressed on. "Are you sure you're telling the truth?"

"Absolutely. I didn't steal it," Violet said with conviction, her eyes clear. "There were so many people around, I wouldn't be stupid enough to take Leana's necklace. You can check for fingerprints; mine won't be on it. And even if you think I wiped them off, there wasn't enough time for that."

The officer didn't think Violet was guilty either, but he had to follow protocol. "Ms. Devereux, without evidence proving your innocence, we have to list you as a suspect."

Violet knew the drill. Without solid proof, she was stuck as a suspect.

So what now?

Did she really have to rely on Brady for everything?

She thought for a moment, staring at the shadow by her feet, then suddenly remembered something. "Sir, I know how to prove my innocence. I don't know if it'll work, though."

The officer looked surprised. "Are you sure?"

Violet nodded. "I remember someone was filming a VLOG at the time. They might have caught us on camera. Please find that person and check if there's anything helpful, but don't tell Ms. Moore yet."

The officer glanced at her and nodded.
