Chapter 835 The Lesson Last Time was Enough

"Is it because he used to chase after me?" Violet finally got it.

"Yeah," Lucien nodded.

There were some things he couldn't just come out and say.

For one, if he mentioned Darian's interest in her now, without solid proof, Violet might not believe him. Secondly, as an outsider, he had done all he could.

Lucien just hoped Violet would keep her distance from Darian.

"Professor Moreau, I think you're overthinking this. We're just business partners, and I definitely won't get involved with Mr. Voss. But thanks for your concern," Violet said, puzzled as to why Lucien thought Darian would pursue her.

In reality, it was impossible.

"I hope I'm overthinking it, but as his friend, I want his design career to flourish," Lucien said all he could.

Without more evidence, there was nothing else to say.

Violet nodded, "Alright."

"Mrs. Hall, I have a class soon, so I need to leave. Sorry," Lucien knew better than to get too close to Violet.

Given her status, Brady's people were likely watching her.

He didn't want to cause trouble for himself, so he left immediately after speaking.

"Professor Moreau, take care," Violet stood up to see him off.

After he left the café, she grabbed her bag and headed over to Emily.

"He's gone," Violet said, placing her bag down and sitting.

Emily glanced at her, indifferent, "I saw."

"Aren't you curious about what he and I discussed about Darian?" Violet teased.

Emily stirred her coffee with a small spoon. "What else could he say? He's probably worried Darian will chase you, and then Mr. Hall will go after Darian."

Emily knew that Lucien and Darian were close friends.

Lucien approached Violet for Darian's sake, not hers.

So Emily didn't need Violet to explain; she already knew.

"Seems like you understand him," Violet smiled.

"I don't want to talk about him," Emily said, not wanting to get tangled up in his affairs again, feeling a headache coming on.

"Alright, we won't," Violet stopped, not wanting to upset her.

Emily sighed lightly, picked up her coffee cup, and asked, "Do you want something to drink?"

"No, I'm not thirsty."

"Okay," Emily nodded, taking a sip of her bitter cappuccino, then asked, "Are you working with Darian?"

"Yeah, I had no choice. Recently, there's been a powerful design company in our circle that's been aggressively acquiring smaller firms, disrupting the competitive environment. I had to collaborate with him," Violet explained.

If it weren't for her desire to expand JK and avoid being crushed by that joint venture design company, she wouldn't have actively sought Darian's partnership.

"He doesn't have any ulterior motives, does he?" Emily felt something was off.

Darian had been back for quite a while, almost half a year.

When Violet initially approached him for collaboration, he didn't respond. But after six months, he suddenly agreed to work with her.

Emily felt something was fishy, but couldn't pinpoint it.

"No, aside from occasionally bringing up our past, he hasn't done anything or shown any real interest in pursuing me," Violet said, which allowed her to relax and work with him.

"Be careful," Emily said, feeling uneasy about Darian.

"Okay, I will."

"By the way, where's Brady?" Emily asked, taking another sip of coffee.

"He's on a business trip and won't be home for a few days," Violet said, taking a small bite of the strawberry cake Emily ordered. "You can hang out with me anytime."

"I wouldn't dare," Emily shivered, laughing.

The last time she took Violet to a nightclub, she almost got in serious trouble with Brady.
