Chapter 401 Brady Was the First One Who Protected Her with His Life
"Yo, what's the deal?"
"Is Ms. DeVereux really that much of a jerk to her folks?"
"Man, looks can be so deceiving!"
"Is it true she doesn't help out her parents?"
"Who even knows?"
Down by the runway, the guests started buzzing. Of course, Violet caught on that everyone was talking about her like she was some ungrateful daughter. But seriously, the DeVere family treated her like dirt.
Why should she even bother with them?
But outsiders wouldn't get it; they only see the surface stuff.
Seeing the whispers getting louder, Max decided to get Violet outta there to dodge more drama. He quickly said to her, "Violet, let's bounce. I'll let Mr. Hall know what's up, and we'll figure out who set this up."
Violet, looking all grim, bit her lip and glanced at Max and the crowd below, ready to leave.
Just as they took a step, the structure above the runway started to wobble.
It was about to come crashing down. Someone noticed and screamed, "The structure's falling! Move it!"
After the scream, everyone looked up.
Sure enough, the ceiling decor was swaying like crazy and about to fall. The guests freaked out, screaming and running for the exits.
The place turned into a madhouse, with people yelling and trampling over each other.
The designers on stage started to bail, too. Violet and Max were the last ones, stuck and unable to get down in time. The structure was about to fall.
Max jumped down, ready to catch Violet and get her out fast.
But it was too late for Violet. The structure suddenly fell, and Brady, who was chilling in the VIP area, dashed onto the runway and grabbed Violet, rolling to the side with her.
He used his body to shield her.
Amidst the chaos, the bodyguards rushed over to save them.
But they were a second too late. A metal pipe from the structure pierced Brady's foot, and blood started pouring out.
Violet, safe in his arms, was unharmed.
Everyone teamed up to lift Brady and rushed him to the hospital. Violet followed, scared out of her mind.
When she caught up, she saw Brady's bleeding foot, and her heart sank. Overcome with worry, she said tearfully, "Brady, I'm so sorry!"
Brady knew the injury wasn't too bad, but it would take some time to heal. Seeing Violet so worried about him, he felt a warm feeling inside.
He reached out to touch the crying Violet and said, "I'll be fine. If something happens to me, who's gonna protect you all?"
"You all" meant her, Henry, and Nicole.
Violet bit her lip, but tears kept falling. Brady's foot was bleeding a lot, and the wound was deep. She was really scared for him.
"Brady, you better be okay," Violet cried, holding his hand. "Otherwise, I'll be super sad."
"Okay," Brady said, touching her face and wiping away her tears.
Due to losing so much blood, Brady felt a bit dizzy.
He couldn't say much more, but before getting into the car, he hugged Violet and said, "I'll help you figure out what happened today. Don't worry."
At this point, she wasn't worried about the false accusations anymore; she was only concerned about his injury.
Brady was the first person to protect her with his own life.
