Chapter 417 Matilda Slapped Violet
Brady hung up on Matilda and immediately felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. If she showed up, there was no way he'd be getting out of bed anytime soon.
Matilda would definitely make sure he stayed put.
Just thinking about it made Brady feel like it was a lost cause.
But he couldn't just tell Matilda to leave; he'd deal with it when she got there.
Brady relaxed a bit and looked over at Violet, who was busy organizing his office stuff. "You don't have to do that. Let the assistant handle it."
Even though he was stuck in the hospital, he couldn't ignore his work.
So, the assistant had brought all the office materials over.
Violet, however, enjoyed helping him out. She wanted to do more to make it up to him.
After sorting through a stack of papers, she said, "It's no big deal; I can handle it."
"Hey, do you want some water? I'll get it for you," Violet offered, putting down the documents.
"Sure," Brady nodded, giving her a warm smile.
Violet went to get him some water. While she was at it, Brady mentioned, "My grandma's coming over soon."
Violet immediately looked worried. Holding the cup, she glanced at Brady with a nervous expression. "Is she going to be mad at me? This is all my fault."
Brady didn't see it that way. He got hurt because he chose to help someone; how could Matilda blame her? He figured Matilda wouldn't be unreasonable.
"Don't worry. She won't blame you," Brady reassured her.
"I'm still scared she'll be mad." Even though Matilda usually treated her well, this time Brady was injured. She couldn't be sure Matilda wouldn't hold it against her.
"It's fine. I'm here." Brady really wanted to pinch her cheeks and tell her not to worry.
The Hall family wasn't that harsh.
Violet gave him a quick glance and softly replied, deciding not to dwell on it, though she still felt a bit uneasy.
"Come here," Brady said, reaching out his hand.
Violet was about to walk over with the water when the door swung open.
Matilda rushed in, her face full of worry and urgency. She immediately noticed Violet with the water cup and Brady lying on the bed with his foot bandaged.
Remembering what Pelinka had told her, Matilda's anger flared. She stormed over to Violet and slapped her hard without warning.
The slap nearly knocked Violet over, causing her to drop the cup. Scalding water splashed out, burning her skin and making her cry out in pain.
Hearing her cry, Brady, lying on the bed, didn't care about his foot injury. Without a word, he got out of bed and quickly walked over to protect Violet, saying, "Why did you hit her?"
"Brady, I regret letting you pursue her! It's bad enough that she's promiscuous, but she also got you hurt. I won't allow you two to be together anymore. From now on, make her leave, or I won't let it go!" Matilda looked at Violet, her eyes no longer filled with the previous gentleness and affection.
She just wanted this dirty woman to stay away from Brady.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How is she promiscuous?" Brady asked in a calm but firm voice. "Did someone tell you something?"
"Don't worry about it. Just answer me, was she kicked out before because she was messing around with men?" Matilda angrily questioned.
Completely disregarding her Hall family identity, she had become utterly irrational.
Matilda said, "You should get tested for AIDS right now!"
Brady's face turned pale, and Violet's face turned even paler.
This was too much. Violet had never been insulted like this in her life!
So she didn't say anything more, gently pushed Brady aside, and said, "Take your time. I'll step out."
She then grabbed her bag and left.
Brady wanted to follow, but Matilda blocked him with her body, not letting him out. "If you dare to go after her, I'll die right in front of you!"
