Chapter 707 I Betrayed Her Love for Me

Meanwhile, inside the coffee shop.

Helen was apologizing to Violet, tears streaming down her face.

She never thought this secret would come to light, but now it had, especially with the news of Evelyn's passing.

The torment Evelyn endured before her death.

Helen's conscience felt like it was being hammered relentlessly, making it hard for her to enjoy the luxuries of Lawson Corporation without guilt.

She knew she would carry this guilt and remorse for the rest of her days.

Compared to Helen's tearful apology, Violet felt a sense of relief.

She didn't want to dwell on the grudges of the past.

Those were issues of the previous generation.

"If you want to apologize, come with me to the cemetery," Violet said. To her, it was more meaningful to apologize to Evelyn.

The real victim was Evelyn.

Helen had already considered this. She wiped her tear-stained eyes with a tissue and nodded, "Alright, I'll go with you."

"Let's go then," Violet said, standing up first.

Helen followed suit, and as she stood, she looked at the strong girl before her, feeling a wave of guilt. "Violet, I don't expect you all to forgive the mistakes I made when I was young. I just hope you can consider the Lawson family as your own. We are all your family."

Violet nodded.

She felt a slight emotional stir. Aside from what the Hall family had given her, she hadn't felt such familial warmth in a long time.

From now on, she would have an unbreakable bond with the family.

Helen and Violet then headed to the cemetery.

Originally, Eileen had dug up Evelyn's urn to threaten James.

After they retrieved it, they reburied her and fixed everything up.

Brady even had Evelyn's grave renovated.

The once neglected tombstone was now clean and tidy.

Several bunches of white lilies were placed beneath the tombstone.

Before coming here, Helen had bought a large bouquet of white daisies and lilies from a nearby shop.

Upon arriving at the cemetery with Violet, she said nothing, placing the flowers down and immediately apologizing.

"Evelyn, I'm sorry. I know this apology is decades late, and you might not accept it. I never realized my selfishness in taking James would cause you such pain. If I had known, I would never have taken him."

"When I came to you back then, I was scared. I feared you would be strong, that you wouldn't fall for my act, that you would tell James. But you were kinder than I. You knew I was pregnant, so you chose to sacrifice yourself for me. But I need to tell you, it was all my fault. I lied to you. James and I never had an engagement, we were never dating. I tricked you into thinking I was his fiancée, making you step aside as his mistress. In reality, I was the one."

Helen bit her lip and confessed everything from back then. Tears had already soaked her eyes.

"I'm truly sorry."

Helen finished and covered her face, crying at the tombstone.

Seeing her in such distress, Violet was about to comfort her when James, Ethan, and Juniper suddenly appeared.

Ethan helped the recently recovered James slowly walk up behind Helen.

James glanced at the tombstone of Evelyn, then at Helen before it. His heart ached with anger and hatred. "How can I forgive you for this?"

"Evelyn died thinking I was just playing with her. I betrayed her love. But when I was with her, I truly loved her."
