Chapter 608 Try to Accept Violet and the Children
"Michael!" Ava's voice was angry as he watched her storm over, ignoring her recent recovery from illness and her celebrity status. She approached Michael and the young girl with a menacing glare, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I thought you divorced me for your daughter-in-law, but it seems there's more to it. Found yourself a new fling, huh?"
Michael remained calm, not bothering to explain. "Have you signed the divorce papers?"
"Why should I sign them?" Ava shot back, her eyes blazing.
"If you don't sign, we'll go through legal channels," Michael replied, turning to walk away.
The young girl, sensing the tension, obediently followed him.
Ava, seething with anger, grabbed the young girl and snapped, "You're young and already up to no good? Trying to seduce my husband? Is this how your parents raised you? To become a mistress?"
"What are you talking about?" The young girl retorted, embarrassed and angry.
Though she admired Michael, she had never intended anything inappropriate.
"If that's not the case, then stay out of my way." Ava released her grip, shoving the girl aside before chasing after Michael.
Michael, wanting to avoid further confrontation, entered his office and shut the door behind him.
This divorce was partly for Matilda and Violet, but also because he had seen Ava's true colors and no longer wanted to tolerate her behavior. If she wasn't willing to change, divorce was the best option. He didn't want their children to suffer.
Ava, unable to open the office door, felt a mix of anger and panic. Despite her disdain for Violet, she had never wanted to divorce Michael. She began pounding on the door. "Michael, come out! We need to talk, or I won't agree to the divorce."
"I've made myself clear. You can't accept our family, can't accept Violet and the kids. We can't be a family," Michael said coldly from the other side of the door. "So divorce is the best choice."
Ava panicked, banging on the door desperately. "I won't divorce, Michael. I won't."
"Then we'll go to court. If you don't want a public spectacle and want to keep your reputation, signing peacefully is the best option," Michael replied.
Ava realized her husband was determined to divorce her. She stopped knocking and frantically called her son, knowing he was the only one who could persuade Michael.
But to her shock, her son didn't answer.
She tried several times, but he didn't pick up. Ava couldn't believe it and called Matilda.
Matilda didn't answer either.
Ava felt abandoned by everyone. They all had turned their backs on her.
She couldn't believe it was true, but it was. Her previous self-inflicted wound had changed nothing; they all sided with Violet.
Ava left The Sterling Society in a daze. She couldn't return to the Hall Mansion, and her son wouldn't welcome her. She had no choice but to go to the upscale apartment Michael had once given her.
But as soon as she entered, the security stopped her. Michael had forbidden her from staying there.
Ava was stunned. Were they really trying to drive her to despair?
With nowhere else to go, she went to her own apartment. Though it was large, it felt cold and empty. Ava suddenly realized that aside from her celebrity status, she had nothing.
She owed her stardom to Michael. Without his support, she was just an aging star who couldn't compete with the current popular idols.
A few days after tearing up the divorce papers, the lawyer delivered them again, right on schedule.
It seemed Michael wouldn't give up until she signed.
Driven to the brink of madness, Ava took the divorce papers and went to the Hall Mansion the next day. She knelt before Matilda, begging her not to let the divorce happen.
This time, she was truly willing to try to accept Violet and the children.
