Chapter 323 Someone Started Calling the Police
"Victoria, what's going on?" Max asked, feeling the need to get a handle on the situation before deciding if a search was necessary.
Max headed over to the supervisor in charge of the models.
Victoria had just gotten the lowdown herself and apologized, "Mr. Green, I'm sorry this happened on your first day."
"It's fine, just fill me in," Max replied.
Victoria nodded, glanced at Violet, and said, "Here's the deal: Leana lost a diamond necklace worth millions. She looked for it by the rack but came up empty. The last person she saw there was Ms. Devereux.
"And they were alone by the rack for quite a while, so we think a search is necessary, not just for Ms. Devereux."
Victoria's words were polite, but the implication was clear: she was suggesting Violet might have stolen the necklace.
Violet had already figured out Leana's scheme. She suspected Leana might be trying to frame her. After all, Leana seemed to have a thing for Brady and had visited him many times.
Violet became alert and lightly touched her dress pocket, hearing the sound of something inside.
From the outline of it, it felt like the shape of a necklace.
Violet was shocked; she was indeed being framed!
But she didn't reach in to touch the necklace, as that would leave her fingerprints, making it difficult to justify or explain later.
In any case, she could have the police do a fingerprint analysis.
After all, she couldn't move objects without touching them!
However, considering the fingerprint issue, she realized people might suspect she had wiped off the fingerprints.
The main problem was that this was a new venue with no cameras yet.
Taking advantage of Victoria arranging for the search, Violet tried to throw the necklace aside secretly, but before she could, Leana walked straight towards her.
As if she knew Violet had stolen her diamond necklace, Leana pointed directly at Violet's face and said, "Violet, you were the only one with me by the rack for so long. You don't mind if I search you first, do you?"
Violet's face turned pale. Leana was doing this on purpose. Biting her lip, Violet said, "I don't mind."
"Good." Leana quickly walked over and, while Violet was thinking of a solution, reached into Violet's pocket and grabbed the necklace she had planted there. She immediately held it up and said, "I found my necklace. So it was with Ms. Devereux all along!"
Leana didn't say "stole," but it was clear to everyone that it was theft.
Everyone started whispering and covering their mouths.
"This designer is a thief? How can JK keep a designer like her?"
"Don't you know Violet? She's the one who almost caused Loraine to quit the industry with her wedding dress design. She's bad luck; trouble follows her everywhere!"
"Really? It's Violet?"
"Yes, it's Violet. I really don't want her at the show. I'm hoping to get some recognition but not shame!"
"Please call the police! She stole the necklace; we can't just let it go!"
With that, someone actually started calling the police!
