Chapter 760 Why Can't She Be the Mistress
Meanwhile, at the Hall Mansion.
Matilda woke up early and told the housemaid to get the little girl up quickly.
She planned to take her out to meet some guests.
Ever since Brady started going to that infamous club, rumors about him keeping a young girl had been spreading like wildfire.
The gossipers seemed to love spreading this story.
Brady and Violet, being in the know, didn't mind; they believed the truth would come out eventually.
But Matilda thought differently. She didn't like anyone tarnishing the Hall family's reputation.
After much thought, she decided to take the little girl to one of her social gatherings with her lady friends.
Any bit of damage control would help.
The maid, tasked with waking the girl, went down to the servants' quarters and found the girl still sound asleep. She instantly felt disdain and snapped, "Hey, get up! Mrs. Matilda Hall is taking you out."
This girl was truly lazy and spoiled.
Matilda didn't take her in to raise her as a granddaughter-in-law.
She took her in out of kindness, seeing that the girl had nowhere else to go, and offered her a job as a maid.
But the girl took advantage of Matilda's soft heart, acting pitiful to gain her sympathy, and refused to learn any household chores, even complaining about the dirt.
Who did she think she was?
Wasn't she just sold by her parents to be a prostitute?
How did she get taken in and start acting like a socialite?
The Hall family maids all disliked this lazy, spoiled girl.
They all wished she would leave soon.
"Why are you yelling? I haven't had enough sleep!" the girl pouted and snapped back at the maid.
She didn't look like she was here to work as a maid. Did she think she was a socialite?
The maid's temper flared. She marched over, grabbed the girl's arm, and twisted it. "Get up! Do you think you're some kind of socialite? Mrs. Matilda Hall is taking you out, and you're acting all high and mighty?"
"It hurts!" the girl screamed as her arm was twisted. "Let go!"
"Get up now!" the maid released her grip with disgust and continued to scold her.
"Why are you so mean? I'll get up, okay?" The girl rubbed her bruised arm and glared at the maid. "Just wait. When I become the lady of the house, you'll regret this!"
The girl, Helena, was full of ambition and didn't know her place.
The maid burst into laughter. "What kind of dream are you having? Do you think the young master would ever look at you?" The maid assumed Helena had her eyes on Michael.
She laughed mockingly.
"Just wait and see!" Helena retorted.
She was ambitious, young, and pretty. Why couldn't she become the lady of the house?
"You're dreaming. Let me warn you, Helena Blackwater, if you dare to think about becoming the lady of the house, not only will I not let you off, but no one in the Hall family will." The maid's tone was stern. "Be out in five minutes. Mrs. Matilda Hall doesn't like to be kept waiting."
With that, she slammed the door and left.
Helena glared at the closed door, her defiant attitude showing as she rolled her eyes at the empty room.
Why couldn't she become the lady of the house? Why couldn't she marry that handsome CEO?
She was determined to make it happen.
At 11 AM, on a flight to Thornwick.
Brady turned off his phone and entered first class with his assistant and the PR team, Charlotte, and Calliope.
Just as he turned off his phone, Violet was calling him.
Seeing his phone was off, Violet worried that Charlotte might take the opportunity to get close to Brady.
She hung up and asked Eddy to book her a train ticket to Thornwick.
Being in her second trimester, flying was no longer an option for her.
