Chapter 405 She Just Wants to Take Care of Brady and Repay His Kindness
Over on the other side of town, at some public hospital, Laura was almost back to her old self after just a day of rest. She had a mild concussion, but it didn't mess with her brain too much, so she bounced back quickly and was up and about in no time.
First thing she did when she woke up? Check out the buzz about the JK fashion show.
Just like she thought, it was a total spectacle.
Even without Fanny's help to frame Violet, there were plenty of others gunning for her. Violet must've been a real piece of work to piss off so many people.
Laura smugly scrolled through the news on her phone.
The headlines were all about the big drama at JK's first fashion show. They even mentioned Brady, the big shot from Hall Group, but didn't spill the details on what happened to him.
Laura couldn't get the full scoop, but she was sure the JK fashion show was a total disaster.
And Violet? She was done for.
Laura was thrilled; she didn't have to lift a finger, and someone else did the dirty work.
After playing on her phone for a bit, she got out of bed to check on Fanny.
Laura was really hoping Fanny would end up in a vegetative state. If Fanny bounced back, Laura would be in deep trouble.
So, to make sure Fanny was out of the picture, Laura decided to see for herself.
Fanny's room was in the ICU, where all the seriously ill patients were.
Laura pretended to be a relative to get in and see her.
Fanny was lying on the white hospital bed, looking like a ghost, her face pale, eyes shut tight, with only the faint beeping of the heart monitor showing she was still alive.
She was basically a living corpse.
Laura walked up to Fanny's bedside with a wicked grin, then looked down at her and started laughing nastily. "Fanny, don't blame me for being ruthless. You messed with the wrong person."
"You could've had a good life, but you chose to go against me. So you can't blame me for taking action, right?"
"So, just stay asleep forever. Lie here until you die. It's better for both of us. I don't want you waking up in a year or two, making me deal with you again."
Laura said all that with a cold smile like she was talking to herself.
Just then, Fanny's parents walked in. Laura's evil grin instantly turned into a look of gentle, weak kindness. She started fake crying and said, "I'm really sorry about Fanny. I had no idea something like this would happen at my place."
Fanny's parents didn't blame her at all since she was also a victim. They quickly comforted her, saying, "Laura, don't blame yourself. This isn't your fault. If anyone's to blame, it's that heartless robber."
Mrs. Bell spoke with a heavy heart. Her good daughter was now in a vegetative state before even getting married; her life was ruined.
"Mrs. Bell, from now on, I'll treat you and Mr. Bell like my own parents. I'll take good care of you for Fanny." Laura pretended to be all kind and caring, stepping forward to hug Fanny's mom and comfort her.
Mrs. Bell was touched and, with tears in her eyes, said, "Laura, thank you for your kindness."
"It's nothing. We'll get through this together," Laura replied.
"Okay."
At 7 PM, the night sky was full of stars. After tucking in her kids, Violet grabbed a few of Brady's clothes and rushed back to the private hospital to see him.
Online, people were buzzing about the Hall Group president's injury.
They just didn't know which hospital Brady was in, so they were clueless about his condition.
Violet saw all the wild guesses online, but she didn't care. She just wanted to take good care of Brady and repay his kindness.
