Chapter 970 He Is a Bit Afraid of Emily and Lucien Rekindling Their Old Flame?

The office, decorated with a simple yet scholarly elegance, had only Lucien sitting there.

Austin wasn't around?

When Emily and Violet walked in and saw only Lucien, Emily instinctively wanted to turn around and leave. Violet grabbed her hand and whispered, "Hold up, why are you leaving?"

That question snapped Emily back to reality. Yeah, why was she leaving?

Was she really that afraid to face him?

He didn't even like her, so what was she worried about?

With that thought, Emily decided to stay.

She looked directly at Lucien, who was sitting in his chair, watching her. Lucien was the epitome of male beauty; even in a simple white shirt, he exuded a refined, almost ascetic charm.

Combined with his elegant and handsome face, it was enough to make any woman's heart flutter.

Emily glanced at him and deliberately asked in a formal tone, "Excuse me, do you know where Mr. Roberts went?"

"He had to step out for a bit, but he should be back in about ten minutes," Lucien replied, still looking at her, puzzled as to why she was looking for Austin.

Emily acknowledged his response with a curt, "Thanks."

After thanking him, she unceremoniously sat down in Austin's chair to wait.

Violet took a seat on the sofa to the side.

Lucien and Austin's desks faced each other, so if Emily looked up even slightly, she would see his face.

But Emily made a point of not looking at him!

Lucien, on the other hand, was curious about why Emily was looking for Austin and why she was sitting so comfortably in his chair.

So, one person was trying to ignore the other, while the other was speculating. Violet, the observer, watched them quietly, making the office atmosphere a bit tense and silent.

Seeing how quiet it was, Violet decided to break the ice and greeted Lucien, "Professor Moreau, how have you been?"

"Pretty good," Lucien replied, shifting his gaze to Violet with a gentle and refined demeanor. "Mrs. Hall, what brings you to our school?"

"I'm here with Emily to see Mr. Roberts."

"You know each other?" Lucien asked instinctively.

"I don't, but Emily does," Violet answered honestly. As soon as she finished speaking, Emily, clearly unhappy, interrupted coldly, "Violet, please don't discuss my personal matters with strangers. It makes me uncomfortable."

Violet raised an eyebrow at Emily, her previously lively and beautiful face now a mask of sternness. Was she angry?

That meant she still cared, right?

Violet instantly understood and couldn't help but smile, "Alright, I won't say anything more."

But their exchange left Lucien silent, his expression slightly dark as he looked at Emily.

To be honest, ever since he had told her not to pursue him, he had dreamt about her a few times.

In his dreams, she would cling to him and act coy, and he had even kissed her in one of those dreams.

It was memorable.

Of course, a dream was just a dream, and he didn't think much of it when he woke up.

But seeing her again now, Lucien suddenly felt that he might still care about Emily a little, did he?

However, this feeling wasn't strong enough to prompt him to take any action.

Just as the silence was becoming awkward again, Austin finally returned to the office after handling his business.

He knew Emily was coming to see him, so he rushed back as soon as he could.

He was a bit worried that Emily and Lucien might rekindle something.

Lucien was the university's famous "handsome professor," from a wealthy family with a formidable background, and most importantly, he was incredibly good-looking.

Emily had pursued him before, so Austin had to stay vigilant!
