Chapter 809 She Means Nothing to Me

Diana had rarely set foot in this fancy coffee shop. It was way out of her budget, and Nathan Brooks couldn't afford it either, but he was determined to bring her here for a meal.

He'd just gotten paid and wanted to treat her to the best coffee around. After a lot of convincing, she finally agreed to come along.

Diana, though hesitant, decided to go with him.

But as soon as she walked into the elegantly decorated coffee shop, taking in the beautiful surroundings, she felt a bit uneasy. She worried that Nathan might not be able to cover the cost.

She thought for a moment and then suggested, "Nathan, this place is pricey. Maybe we should go somewhere else?"

"We're already here, let's just go in," Nathan insisted. This was the first time he could afford to bring Diana to a place like this, and he didn't want to back down now.

"But," Diana was still concerned about his wallet.

"No buts. If you don't go in, are you saying you don't trust me?" Nathan said, trying to sound firm.

Diana shook her head and smiled helplessly, "Of course not. Let's go in then?" She decided that if it came to it, she would secretly help him pay.

With that decision made, Diana followed Nathan into the coffee shop.

As they entered, her mind was preoccupied with the idea of helping Nathan pay, so she didn't notice Arthur was also there.

A server led them to a window seat.

As soon as they sat down, the server enthusiastically handed the menu to Diana.

Diana gently took it and began to browse through it.

Nathan sat across from her, looking at her with a loving and tender gaze.

Diana and Nathan had grown up together in the orphanage. Two years ago, Diana was taken in by the Fawn family, and their contact had lessened since then.

He worried that she wasn't doing well with the Fawn family.

"Diana, are you doing okay with the Fawn family?" Nathan asked, his concern evident.

"I'm doing fine," Diana didn't want to tell him about her struggles.

She didn't want him to worry, nor did she want the orphanage director to know.

The director was like a mother to her, and if she knew Diana wasn't doing well, it would hurt her.

Anyway, Diana planned to find a way to leave the Stanley family and the Fawn family.

For now, she just had to endure and wait for the right moment.

"Really?" Nathan studied her pretty face carefully, afraid she might be lying.

"Of course, Nathan, why would you doubt me?" Diana said, deliberately smiling brightly, her eyes shining like stars.

Diana rarely smiled when she was with the Fawn family and the Stanley family.

Those places made her feel oppressed, and she couldn't bring herself to smile.

But facing someone she grew up with, she showed a genuine smile.

However, this smile looked different to Arthur, who was sitting not far away, and it even seemed a bit glaring.

Arthur's gaze darkened as he watched the young girl smile.

The man sitting across from her was her boyfriend?

Did she have a boyfriend?

Was it before she married Kade?

So marrying Kade must have been planned, just waiting for Kade to die to help his uncle fight for the Stanley family inheritance?

"What are you looking at? Aren't you going to say hello?" Brady noticed his displeased expression and deliberately teased, "What's the point of just watching?"

Arthur scoffed, his eyes still fixed on Diana, his fingers subconsciously gripping the rim of his glass, his voice indifferent, "You don't need to provoke me. She means nothing to me."

Brady laughed instantly, unable to resist clicking his tongue, "This situation is exactly like mine back then."

"You provoked me the same way."

Arthur was speechless.

He paused, his eyes lowered, "We're different. Violet and your Hall family don't have major interests involved. Even if she schemed against you, it wouldn't hurt your interests much. She's different."

She chose his uncle's side to oppose him.
