Chapter 158 Don't You Want to Talk about Henry's Issue with Me?

The living room awaited, where the maid had already set some herbal supplements on the coffee table with care, saying, "Ms. Devereux, these are prepared by Mr. Hall’s instructions, please take them with you when you leave."

"They can boost your energy."

While the maid was warm and earnest, Violet Devereux felt tense, her face pinched. She didn't need supplements.

And certainly, if she did, she could buy them herself.

She wouldn't accept anything from Brady Hall.

"Thank you, Hellen," she said politely, feigning appreciation.

"I'll get back to work. Let me know if you need anything," the maid offered.

Violet nodded.

The maid went back to the kitchen to prepare a lovely breakfast for Mr. Hall and Ms. Devereux, while Violet sat on the comfortable living room sofa with a heavy heart, waiting for Brady Hall.

Brady was in his bedroom changing.

Around ten minutes later, he emerged in a relaxed set of sportswear.

Such casual attire.
Gone was the austerity and aloofness of his usual white shirt and black trousers; in casual attire, the man seemed a tad more approachable.

Violet Devereux did a double-take when she saw him.

It must've been ages since she'd last seen Brady Hall dressed so casually.

She didn't want to stare, though. Just a quick glance and she looked away, waiting for him to come over.

With a casual stride, Brady Hall approached the sofa beside her and slouched down with an air of ease. "What're you in the mood for this morning? Sarah can make anything you'd like."

"I'm not picky. Anything's fine," said Violet Devereux, despite not really wanting to share a meal with him. She steadied her heart and spoke without faltering, "Mr. Hall, about this dress, it's not really me. I've brought it back for you."

As she spoke, she placed the gown on the coffee table beside her.

"A gift once given isn't for taking back," Brady Hall said, eyeing the steadfast woman before him with a challenging gleam in his eyes.

"I have every right to refuse it, don't I?" Violet countered calmly.

Hearing this, Brady couldn't help but chuckle, clearly amused. "Let's have breakfast first."

"Sure." Violet didn't want to get tangled in this matter any longer.

Mentioning the dress was enough. She could simply leave it behind when she left.

After all, Brady Hall was too skilled at laying traps.

She feared saying too much might lead her unwittingly into one of them.

That was the case when they'd recently discussed Henry. It was obvious Brady hadn't dispelled his suspicions.

Gaining his real trust seemed a bit of a stretch.

With nothing more to add, and Brady remaining silent, the intensity of his gaze made Violet feel like she was under the watch of a wolf, about to be pounced on and devoured at any second.

To avoid that unnerving feeling, she turned her gaze to the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Only when Sarah finished preparing a sumptuous, breakfast did Brady stand up and say, "Come, join me for breakfast."

Violet met his eyes and obediently nodded.

She reminded herself that this meal was merely to return the favor for last time when he helped her with the Aiden situation.

It was just repaying a debt.

She didn't need to be overly formal; eating and leaving would suffice.

Reassured, Violet relaxed and took her seat at the long dining table.

Sarah began serving them a variety of exquisite breakfast dishes.

Once everything was on the table, Sarah turned to Brady and said, "Mr. Hall, that's all there is."
Brady Hall gave a slight nod and signaled to Sarah to tidy up the bedroom first.

Sarah got the hint and discreetly excused herself.

With Sarah gone, Brady turned his gaze to the woman sipping her oatmeal slowly. Suddenly he said, "You don't want to talk about Henry's issue with me?"
