Chapter 272 Are You Afraid That I'll Do Something, So You're Eating So Hurriedly?
The luxurious black Bentley continued to speed down the brightly lit street and soon arrived at Brady's upscale apartment.
Brady didn't force Violet into the car this time, so the atmosphere between the two was quite harmonious.
Once inside the apartment, Brady first loosened his tie, threw it to the side of the sofa after taking it off, unbuttoned two buttons of his shirt, and said, "Could you check the fridge for some ingredients?"
Violet put down her bag and went to check the food in the fridge.
In fact, Violet always thought that single men like Brady, although taken care of by housekeepers, usually didn't have many ingredients at home due to their busy social lives. However, after opening the fridge, she found it quite well-stocked.
Violet almost thought Brady had prepared it intentionally for her.
What Violet didn't know was that Brady had indeed prepared these ingredients in advance for her.
After looking through the fridge, Violet took out the ingredients one by one. Brady glanced in her direction, unbuttoned the cuffs, rolled up his sleeves, and slowly walked over to Violet, saying, "Let me help."
As soon as Brady spoke, Violet was startled and almost dropped a cabbage in her hand on the floor. Her pretty face looked nervously at Brady, who seemed genuinely ready to help, and said, "Mr. Hall, do you know how to do this?"
"Why do you think I can't do this?" Brady said as he skillfully prepared some utensils for Violet to cut the vegetables. He then said, "Why are you standing there? Shouldn't we start preparing the meal?"
Violet responded with an acknowledgment, grabbed the cabbage, and started cutting it.
As she cut the vegetables and placed them in a glass container, Brady helped Violet wash them. His skilled movements didn't resemble those of a man who couldn't cook.
However, Brady wasn't particularly good at cooking. He could only make simple dishes.
It was because Brady had spent a few years in the military with his late grandfather, who had trained him rigorously and never allowed the maids or servants to help with anything.
This was to force Brady to get rid of some of the bad habits of being a spoiled rich kid. Thus, Brady could handle some simple things like washing vegetables.
Thanks to his grandfather's strict upbringing, Brady was able to take over the vast Hall Group without displaying any incompetence typical of a wealthy heir, instead handling everything with ease.
As Brady and Violet cooked together, although Violet was a bit nervous, she gradually developed a different perception of him.
While at the Hall Group, Brady always seemed aloof and unapproachable, but upon closer interaction, he was actually an outstanding man without that cold exterior.
No wonder so many women in New Future City were infatuated with him. It made sense.
Violet continued preparing dinner while Brady assisted. After dinner was ready, they sat down at the table to eat together.
Before dinner, Brady deliberately opened a bottle of very old wine and poured a little for Violet.
Violet didn't want to drink. Although she had weaned herself off, alcohol could lead to mistakes, so she declined and started eating slowly, wanting to finish quickly and head back.
While Violet ate with her head down, Brady seemed uninterested in food, leisurely savoring the wine in his glass.
Violet didn't look at Brady but could sense a certain intense gaze from him. This made her eat faster, almost choking.
Seeing this, Brady handed Violet a tissue and said, "Are you afraid that I'll do something, so you're eating so hurriedly?"
Violet wiped her lips with the tissue and said, "I'm full, Mr. Hall. You go ahead."
She stood up, and Brady gently placed his hand on Violet's delicate hand, his voice tinged with the low richness of wine. He said, "Go wait on the sofa over there."
Brady's hand felt slightly warm, causing Violet to blush slightly.
Violet wanted to leave.
However, seeing that Brady had hardly touched his food, she decided to wait for him to finish before leaving. She withdrew her hand, nodded, and went to the sofa to wait.
