Chapter 966 A Smile Appeared at the Corner of Austin's Lips, He Was Not Far from Victory

Violet was lost in her passionate world, while Emily's life was almost painfully proper.

Austin was watching a movie with Emily. From start to finish, they both held their popcorn, each absorbed in their own viewing.

There was none of the usual couple's closeness.

But Austin wasn't in a hurry. Emily was a wealthy socialite, so he couldn't rush things. Otherwise, a rich girl like her could cut ties with him at any moment and find another man.

Women like her, born at the top of the social ladder, had no shortage of suitors.

Austin understood this well, so he didn't dare push her too hard.

Finally, the movie ended, and people began to file out of the theater. Emily grabbed her purse and, along with Austin, slowly followed the crowd out.

In the theater lobby, Austin realized that staying silent wasn't going to work.

He spoke first, his tone caring and considerate: "Emily, it's getting late. Can I take you home?"

"Sure." Emily agreed. It was indeed getting late.

She needed to get some sleep.

"By the way, are you coming to class tomorrow?" Austin hoped to spend more time with her.

Their dates were usually too stiff.

He planned to take advantage of her time at school to get closer and cultivate their relationship.

"Yes, my dad's out of the hospital, so I don't have to handle the company affairs anymore." Emily nodded, her tone gentle.

Austin continued to show concern: "How's Mr. Hart doing now?"

"He's doing okay, he's out of the hospital."

Austin nodded, and then, gathering his courage, stepped in front of Emily and said, "Emily, I have a college friend who's a doctor at a famous hospital in America, and he's a heart specialist. If you need, I can arrange for Mr. Hart to get a thorough check-up there."

"That way, you can be completely at ease."

Emily had to stop and look at him. Mentioning her father, she became serious and a bit excited: "Really? Your friend is a specialist?"

Although Douglas was out of the hospital, heart disease wasn't something that could be cured overnight.

She wanted a more professional evaluation for Douglas.

Austin nodded, "Yes, my friend is an expert in this field. So if you want, I can contact him right away."

Emily's eyes lit up a bit: "Mr. Roberts, thank you. Please go ahead and contact him." She wouldn't refuse such an offer.

She wanted Douglas to stay healthy.

"Alright, I'll get in touch." Austin saw how much this meant to her and made a confident promise.

Finally, Emily gave him a small smile: "Thank you."

"No need to thank me. Let me take you home. It's late, and your parents would worry about you being out alone." Austin was pleased to see her smile and quickly stepped aside to let her pass. They continued walking.

At the parking lot, Emily initially wanted to drive.

Austin volunteered to drive, and Emily handed him the keys.

Once they were in the car, Austin started the engine and drove Emily back to her family's apartment building.

When they arrived, Austin got out and handed the car keys back to Emily.

Emily took the keys and said goodbye: "Mr. Roberts, thank you for helping with my dad."

Austin nodded, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it."

"Thanks, I'll head in now. Goodnight, see you tomorrow." Emily waved goodbye and got back into her car.

Just as she started the engine, Austin suddenly asked, "Emily, will you be my girlfriend? For real this time!"

Emily was taken aback, staring at the refined Austin standing outside her car window.

She felt a flutter in her heart.

After a moment, she nodded.

Then, Emily drove off, disappearing from the front of the apartment building.

As her car vanished, a smile crept onto Austin's lips. It seemed he was close to victory.
