Chapter 43 I Can't Like Brady in This Lifetime
"Mr. Green, haven't you noticed that she's not actually feeling unwell?" Lilian sarcastically said to Max in a strange tone.
Little did she know, Max had always liked Violet and would never help Lilian.
Regardless of Lilian's insinuations that Violet wasn't truly unwell.
Max still stood up for her. "Miss Devereux, I'll arrange someone else for you."
"Mr. Green, are you helping her?" Upon hearing that this man was still helping her, Lilian couldn't contain her spoiled temperament and started to act tough. "We asked your Design Department for assistance in our Public Relations Department, and you kept dragging your feet. Are you really looking down on us?"
"Miss Devereux, you're overreacting." Max politely replied, trying to appease. "I'll go arrange someone."
After saying that, before Lilian could say anything else, he left.
Lilian noticed that this man was really helping Violet, and as soon as he left, she directly ridiculed Violet, pointing at her and saying, "Oh, my dear sister, you’ve hooked up with the director so quickly? It seems like you really have some skills!"
Violet sneered and looked at her step-sister, almost like watching a monkey perform, with a deep anger inside. She tightly grasped the documents in her hand and coldly replied, "What benefit do you gain from defaming me?"
"How is this defaming? Isn't it obvious?" Lilian replied, cold and mocking. "You are not unwell at all, are you?"
"Do I have to help if you ask me to? Or was it specifically assigned to me by the PR department?" Violet responded firmly, refusing to show any weakness. "If you simply want to step on me or boss me around, there's no need to go that far."
"We haven't had any family relationship for a long time. If you continue to harass me or cause trouble, I won't back down either," Violet calmly stated.
Lilian felt a bit stunned by her sister's resolute expression and tone. She always thought her sister would be easily scared.
At least when she hadn't been driven out by the Devereux family, her position within the Devereux family was similar to that of a servant. She would obediently follow everyone's orders.
But after a year apart, why did she seem different?
Lilian suddenly realized that her sister seemed to have changed.
Became stronger.
But so, what if she became stronger? She still had nothing, and she had no power to oppose her.
Lilian didn't believe she couldn't defeat her.
Especially now that she had appeared to be involved with the Hall family, who could guarantee that she wasn't here for Brady? So, as long as it was for Brady, she had to destroy her.
She wouldn't allow any woman to get close to Brady.
Especially her sister, Violet.
"Yes, I do want to boss you around," Lilian raised her eyebrows, full of arrogance and dominance. "Let me tell you, Violet, as long as I'm here, you can forget about having Brady!"
Brady, it's Brady again?
Violet now felt a headache whenever she heard his name.
She really had no interest in Brady, nor his family background.
Violet chuckled and mockingly said, "I'm not interested in him, so can you please stop bothering me?"
Lilian didn't believe her. If she really wasn't interested, why did she come to work here?
Even if she studied fashion design, so what?
There are so many design companies in the world, why choose this one?
Is she blind or dumb?
Lilian continued to sneer. Her face was gloomy, filled with resentment as she looked at her step-sister. "Violet, if you don't want me to come and disturb you, fine, swear to me!"
"What do you want me to swear?" Violet no longer had the patience to continue talking to her.
Lilian was her enemy, and so was her mother.
The entire Devereux family was.
If she could still calmly chat with her, how could she justify it to her deceased mother?
"Swear that you will never like Brady in this lifetime, and if you do, you will get hit by a car when you step out!"
