Chapter 1063 If He Really Dies, It's Fine; What He Can't Have, Lucien Can't Have Either
To outsiders, Lucien always seemed like the perfect gentleman—polite and refined. But he wasn't always like this during his high school years.
Back then, he was notorious.
Skipping school, getting into fights, smoking—he did it all.
It wasn't until college that he turned over a new leaf and adopted a more sophisticated demeanor.
But it had been years since he let out the violent streak that lay dormant within him.
Austin knew Lucien was tough, but he had no idea just how tough.
He assumed Lucien's strength came from working out.
So he wasn't particularly scared, but when Lucien rolled up his sleeves, revealing his forearms, and landed a punch that broke Austin's nose, he realized Lucien had been hiding his true power.
Lucien was a force to be reckoned with.
Austin was beaten to the point of losing consciousness, his face covered in blood.
Lucien, satisfied with the beating, grabbed Austin and shoved him against the bathroom sink, turning on the faucet and pushing his head into the basin to wake him up.
The cold water jolted Austin awake, and despite the pain, he spat out threats, "Lucien, I'm calling the cops. Just wait."
"I'll ruin you."
Lucien wasn't fazed. He watched Austin, beaten and still spewing threats.
Leaning in close to Austin's ear, he whispered darkly, "Go ahead, call the cops. But think about your parents."
Lucien didn't usually resort to threats, but dealing with someone like Austin required a different approach.
Mentioning his parents silenced Austin. He knew the Moreau family's influence.
He had no choice but to endure it quietly.
Lucien pulled him out of the sink and tossed him back onto the floor, coldly stating, "If you ever bother Emily again, I'll beat you every time I see you."
Austin lay there, too scared to respond.
After Lucien left, Austin let out his pent-up rage, pounding the floor with his fists until his knuckles bled.
Wiping the blood from his face, he managed a twisted, sinister smile.
He was not one to give up easily.
Having abandoned his former fiancée and everything else, he returned to New Future City with a determination not to lose.
He would claim the Hart family fortune and Emily. If she wanted to die, so be it.
If he couldn't have her, Lucien wouldn't either.
Lucien stepped out of the bathroom and stood in the hallway for a moment, pulling out his phone to call his father, Allan Moreau. "Dad, I'm planning to return to the family business tomorrow."
For Emily's sake, he needed to go back to the Moreau family enterprise.
He feared Austin wouldn't give up and would continue to torment Emily.
Staying at school wouldn't allow him to protect her.
Allan, on the other end, was surprised. Lucien had always been reluctant to help with the family business. What had changed?
"Lucien, are you serious?"
"I'm serious. I have things to handle here, so I'll talk to you later."
Allan responded, "Alright, I'll arrange a position for you tomorrow."
After finishing the call, Lucien slipped his phone into his dress pants pocket and headed to Emily's hospital room.
Inside, Emily lay quietly on the bed, her eyes still closed, not yet awake.
Douglas and Elodie sat beside her, while Brady and Violet stood nearby.
Lucien gently knocked and entered, standing behind Elodie, his gaze fixed on the girl in the bed.
After a moment, Violet approached him and whispered, "Professor Moreau, did he leave?"
Lucien nodded, "He's gone."
Violet sighed in relief, "I hope that jerk Austin doesn't come back to bother Emily."
