Chapter 654 Possessiveness
Elite Care Center.
James was rushed to the emergency room after being brought in for urgent medical care.
Ethan and Violet waited outside the emergency room.
Their faces were tense, fearing that James might have a sudden complication.
The heavy atmosphere lingered for ten minutes. Ethan, with one hand in his pocket, glanced at Violet standing next to Brady, a hint of emotion flickering in his eyes.
This trip back home had given him some insight into his father's past in Crestoria.
James had been young and reckless, falling in love at first sight.
But perhaps that past wasn't as beautiful as it seemed.
Ethan wondered where his mother stood in James's heart back then, and what place Evelyn held in his father's heart.
Had Evelyn and James known each other long before, or was their love something that blossomed after marriage?
Either way, it seemed like both sides might have been hurt.
Especially now, with Evelyn gone and his father suddenly hospitalized with a heart attack, his fate uncertain. Ethan suddenly felt the urge to talk to Violet, even if his words might seem selfish.
After a few moments of silence, he walked over to her.
"Violet, we need to talk," Ethan said, his eyes somber.
Violet could sense what was coming and responded gently, "I'm listening."
"My dad's sudden illness has left his fate uncertain. If he wakes up and wants to see you, I hope you'll consider it. That's all I'm asking," Ethan said, not expecting Violet to acknowledge his father.
As she had mentioned, his father might have betrayed his marriage by seeking out her mother.
She just wanted to avoid any awkwardness.
He respected that.
"I understand. I can meet with him if it comes to that," Violet said calmly, though she had no intention of acknowledging him as family.
Ethan felt relieved by her response and said gratefully, "Thank you. I appreciate it."
He feared that if his father woke up and wanted to see Violet, her refusal might upset him.
"There's no need to thank me. Meeting him will also fulfill my wish to solve the mystery of my biological father," Violet said calmly.
Ethan understood and didn't say more.
He felt a protective affection for Violet, his sister.
To cherish her like he did Juniper.
But she didn't seem very willing.
He would respect her wishes.
An hour later, James was finally wheeled out of the emergency room. Fortunately, he had been brought in time and was safe.
However, he needed to stay in the hospital for observation.
The medical staff then moved him to the VIP suite on the top floor for specialized care.
Violet and Brady accompanied Ethan to the top floor to check on James. Before James woke up, they left. Ethan didn't insist on them staying and escorted them to the hospital entrance before returning to the room to look after James.
Violet and Brady walked hand in hand to their car after leaving the hospital.
It had been a while since they had walked together so intimately.
Especially recently, Violet had been acting secretive, making Brady jealous. The thought made him a bit angry, so after a few steps, he said to Violet, "Violet, I'm giving you a serious 'warning.' No more meeting strange men, got it?"
Violet chuckled, "That serious? You're warning me?"
Brady smirked, not hiding his jealousy. "What else? If you weren't pregnant, I'd probably tie you to the bed so you couldn't go anywhere."
Violet was speechless.
Brady was truly possessive.
