Chapter 1056 Has Her Dad Really Been Brainwashed by That Bastard Austin?
The restaurant was one of Violet's regular spots.
They sat down, and Violet ordered a few of her favorite dishes. She leaned against Brady, scrolling through her phone while they waited for the food.
Brady held her close, his affectionate demeanor making the other diners envious.
"Want some lemonade?" Brady asked, noticing her engrossed in her phone. He poured her a glass and brought it to her lips, letting her drink.
Violet enjoyed Brady's attention, sipping through the straw.
No one would guess they were a couple with three kids, given the way Brady pampered Violet.
Meanwhile, Emily's life was far from sweet. It was more like a frozen wasteland.
After much consideration, Douglas agreed to let Austin join the Hart Group.
And not just any position—Austin was given a management role.
When Emily found out, she couldn't help but confront Douglas in his study.
Despite her anger, Emily was worried about Douglas's health. She kept her voice low, trying to suppress her fury. "Dad, how could you let Austin join our company? You've already given him a valuable house. We're just dating, not even engaged. Why should we compensate him so much?"
Douglas put down his papers and looked at Emily, his voice tinged with anger. "You talk about compensation? Do you know he got expelled from school because of your mess with Lucien? How do you think I feel about that?"
"But my situation with Lucien has nothing to do with his expulsion. He got kicked out after arguing with the principal over dropping a class. It has nothing to do with me." Emily knew the details and didn't want someone as deceitful as Austin in the Hart Group.
Douglas frowned. He had been holding back his anger for a while. Emily and Austin were doing fine until Lucien showed up, causing trouble for everyone.
Especially since Emily spent the night with Lucien, stripping Austin of his dignity.
No matter how you looked at it, the Hart family was at fault.
Douglas wasn't the type to shirk responsibility. If his children made mistakes, he wouldn't condone it. "Are you still trying to dodge responsibility? If you hadn't dropped the class, would he have gone to the principal?"
Emily was stunned. So her dad was really brainwashed by Austin?
And brainwashed thoroughly?
Giving him money and a job?
Emily hated herself more than ever for agreeing to date Austin.
Was she out of her mind back then?
Emily bit her lip. "Dad, I was never wrong in this matter, but I won't let a man like him taint our company."
She turned to leave the study, but Douglas, now angry, slapped the table. "I make the decisions here. He'll report to your department tomorrow! That's final!"
Emily froze in her tracks.
Her dad had lost it.
But arguing further was pointless.
She clenched her fists and stormed out of the study.
She wouldn't let Austin have his way.
Emily walked into the living room, trying to calm down.
What should she do now?
Her dad was definitely brainwashed and would let Austin join the company. What if Austin sweet-talked him into giving away shares?
The more Emily thought about it, the more it sent chills down her spine.
But who could she turn to for help?
Emily anxiously pondered for a long time before deciding to text Violet. She wanted her help.
But as she took out her phone, she hesitated. She didn't want to bother Violet again.
Violet had helped her a lot recently.
She had her own family. How could Emily keep troubling her?
Just as Emily was feeling hopeless, a message from Lucien popped up.
It was just a message of concern.
Emily glanced at it, not planning to reply, ready to delete it. But before she did, she remembered Austin's situation.
Finally, she mustered the courage to ask for Lucien's help: [My dad is letting Austin join my company. Can you help me?]
Lucien responded quickly, without any ulterior motives. [Leave it to me.]
