Chapter 852 We Can Testify Against Brady

"Darian, someone's out to kidnap you," he said, trying to keep it cool but with a hint of worry. "I got you outta there and brought you here to lay low so they can't find you."

"Kidnap me?" Jade was stunned. She'd left the design world ages ago.

Back then, she hadn't made any enemies. Why would anyone want to snatch her now?

"Yeah, kidnap you. I just got back to the States and wanted to see you. I saw someone trying to grab you, so I stepped in and brought you here."

"Ms. Hernandez, you should hang out here for now. I'll keep you safe," Darian said, sounding all responsible.

Jade glanced at him and then around his place, shaking her head. "Darian, I don't know who I've ticked off, but I can't drag you into this mess. I'm gonna call the cops."

Even if the kidnapper ended up killing her, she wouldn't care, as long as Darian stayed out of it.

Darian had a rough life. His family treated him like dirt, always putting him down. If it weren't for her teaching him and helping him study abroad, he might've been lost.

Jade rarely took on students, but Darian was different.

He was talented and driven, and his situation was heartbreaking.

That was why Jade eventually took him under her wing.

He could memorize a hundred types of fabric in ten minutes and whip up designs she wanted in no time.

Such talent shouldn't go to waste.

"Darian, I won't let you get involved."

Suddenly, Darian dropped to his knees, saying, "Ms. Hernandez, how could this be a burden? You're like family to me. I owe you so much. Why would I be scared to get involved? And don't call the cops. It won't help. The people after you are powerful, and we can't fight them."

"Do you know them?" Jade asked, looking intently at Darian.

"No, I don't know them personally, but I work with one of their companies," Darian replied, pretending to be worried. "Ms. Hernandez, how are you feeling? If you're not feeling well, I can call a private doctor."

"No need, I'll be fine after some rest," Jade declined, feeling a warmth in her heart. Taking Darian in hadn't been in vain.

Despite her dangerous situation, he didn't abandon her.

With a sigh, Jade said, "Darian, don't worry. Just tell me, who wants to kidnap me?"

"Ms. Hernandez, rest first. Once you're better, I'll tell you. You stay here tonight." Darian had changed his mind.

He didn't want to harm Jade anymore. Instead, he wanted her to testify against Brady for the kidnapping.

Of course, if Jade messed things up, he wouldn't hesitate to take drastic measures.

Jade couldn't get any more information from him. Feeling dizzy, she agreed, "Darian, thank you."

"It's nothing. You're my mentor and family. Taking care of you is the least I can do."

Jade nodded, touched, and helped him up. "Darian, get up."

"Okay." Darian stood and led Jade to the guest room to rest. Once she was asleep, he stood outside the door, coldly plotting how to deal with Brady.

In the afternoon, after Jade had rested, Darian cooked her favorite chicken soup.

Jade loved fish, and Darian knew it well.

He served the delicious chicken soup and a steak, then asked, "Ms. Hernandez, how did you sleep? Is your head still dizzy?"

"No, it's better now," Jade said, massaging her temples. At 65, she couldn't compare to the younger folks.

"That's good. Let's eat. I made your favorite chicken soup," Darian said, pulling out a chair for her.

Jade looked at the delicious soup, feeling a warm rush of emotion. After all these years, Darian still remembered her favorite dish.

It was worth taking him in.

Jade sat down and started eating. Halfway through, she remembered the earlier conversation and put down her utensils. "Darian, tell me, who wants to kidnap me?"

Darian wasn't in a hurry. He poured her a glass of water and sat down. "Ms. Hernandez, do you know Brady?"

Brady?

Jade frowned, trying to recall any memory of Brady.

But she couldn't remember anyone by that name.

"Darian, who is he? I don't remember him."

"Do you know Ava?" Darian hinted.

Mentioning Ava, Jade couldn't help but recognize the name. She raised an eyebrow. "I know Ava. Is Brady her son?"

Darian nodded. "Yes, Ms. Hernandez, it's him."

Jade was surprised, finding it hard to believe. She had a decent relationship with Ava. Ava had once worn one of her designs on the red carpet, which had skyrocketed her fame.

She couldn't understand why Ava's son would want to kidnap her.

"Darian, what's going on?"

"Ms. Hernandez, I don't know why he wants to kidnap you, but Mr. Hall is powerful. If he wants to get to you, he will. So, stay here for now. When the time is right, we can testify against him."
