Chapter 651 Ash Urn

Ethan didn't hold a grudge and extended his hand for a shake. "Mr. Hall, it was just a misunderstanding. No hard feelings."

Just like that, the two of them buried the hatchet.

Philip, seeing the two CEOs reconcile, quickly invited them to sit down and continue discussing matters related to Evelyn and James.

After the conversation, Brady said, "If we're talking about a reunion, we'll need a paternity test. Plus, my wife might not be on board, so let's not push it."

"I get it," Ethan replied, not wanting to make decisions for his father.

However, when James was mentioned, Ethan suddenly remembered Eileen's threats to his father. He turned to Violet and said, "Ms. Devereux, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?"

"My dad is here too. He went to see the Devereux family, and they threatened him with your mom's ashes to get him to help release Lilian from prison," Ethan explained.

"I'm worried my dad might act impulsively."

Earlier, Philip had shared stories about James and Evelyn's young love. Given the fact that James traveled all this way to see Evelyn, it was clear that James cared deeply.

"Where is he now?" Violet asked, concerned about her mother's ashes.

"He should be at the Devereux villa."

Eileen had given James a day to comply. Ethan had planned to help James today but decided to stay hidden since he had come without James knowing.

"Brady, what should we do? Should I go over there?" Violet anxiously looked at Brady.

She wouldn't let Eileen destroy her mother's ashes.

When her mother passed away in the hospital, the Devereux family had come to claim the body but did nothing else. Violet had thought her mother would be buried in her grandfather's plot, which would bring her some peace. So, she hadn't stopped Gerry from taking her mother's ashes.

Now, she regretted it. Eileen was capable of anything.

"Don't worry. With me here, if they dare touch your mother's ashes, they'll regret it," Brady said calmly, holding her hand. "Let's go to the Devereux Villa now."

Violet nodded and followed his lead.

They stood up from the couch, and Ethan followed them to the Devereux Villa.

Meanwhile, at the Devereux Villa.

James, worried that Evelyn's ashes might be tampered with, had arrived early to meet Eileen and Pelinka.

Eileen and Pelinka had anticipated his visit. Pelinka, confident and in control, said, "Mr. Lawson, since you're here as agreed, let's discuss how to save my granddaughter."

James, with a stern expression, looked at Pelinka and asked, "Can I see Evelyn's ashes?"

"Of course," Pelinka replied, raising an eyebrow and signaling to Eileen. Eileen immediately went to a small room and brought out a wooden box.

Of course, the box didn't contain Evelyn's real ashes. It was filled with gray pearl powder they had bought. They wouldn't hand over the real ashes, as they planned to use them against Violet in the future.

Eileen carefully carried the fake ashes out of the small room. Seeing the box, James became emotional. Ignoring Pelinka's gaze, he walked over and gently touched the wooden box.

His sharp eyes were now tinged with red.

If he hadn't left in anger back then, would Evelyn's life have been less tragic? If he had returned sooner, could he have seen her one last time?

Instead, all he could see now was a box of ashes.

The more James thought about it, the more his heart ached.
