Chapter 849 No One Can Take Violet Away from Him
The car was cozy and warm, with Violet wrapped up in Brady's arms, his kisses making her blush and melt into his embrace.
Luckily, there was a partition separating them from the driver and Eddy up front.
Otherwise, she'd be mortified.
As the car zoomed down the road, Brady reluctantly let her go as they got closer to home. Brady's scent was addictive, and no matter how many times he breathed it in, it was never enough.
"I love you," Brady said, his voice deep and magnetic, probably because Violet's blushing face was just too irresistible.
Violet's cheeks turned even redder. She was a mom to three adorable kids, but hearing Brady say "I love you" so casually made her heart race like a teenager in love.
Her ears burned, and she didn't know what to do with her hands.
"I love you too," Violet whispered back, still flushed, leaning in to confess in his ear.
Brady's lips curled into a smile, his heart feeling full and content.
No matter how many Darians came along, no one could take Violet away from him.
At the hospital.
After Violet left, Darian dropped the act, tossing the photos from the bed onto the floor. He turned to Alaric with a cold voice, "We need to make sure Ms. Devereux loses this design competition."
Alaric frowned slightly, puzzled by Darian's intentions. "Darian, we're working with Mrs. Hall. If she loses, doesn't that mean we lose too?"
"It could also damage your reputation," Alaric pointed out, unsure why Darian would risk such a move.
Even if he wanted to pursue Violet, this seemed extreme.
"You've been with me this long and you're still this dense?" Darian said, rubbing his temples in frustration.
Alaric felt a bit ashamed at being called out and tried to appease him, "Darian, I may be slow, but I'm loyal to you."
Alaric was indeed loyal to Darian, even willing to be his enforcer.
It wasn't out of any special affection, but because Darian had saved him when he was struggling abroad, bullied, jobless, and nearly starving.
From that day, Alaric vowed to repay him.
"Violet is entering the competition under her name for JK, while we're representing JK," Darian explained. "Even though it's under JK's banner, the entries are individual. The win or loss is personal."
With this explanation, Alaric understood, smacking his forehead with a laugh, "Darian, I am slow."
"So you want Mrs. Hall to compete first, lose badly, and then come to you for help?"
Darian nodded.
He wanted her to come to him, and she would have to offer something in return for his help.
"Won't this upset Mr. Hall?" Alaric couldn't help but bring up Brady again.
He had met Brady once and was deeply impressed.
Brady seemed high and mighty, but his eyes were like a lion's, ready to strike if provoked.
"You're so timid. Maybe you shouldn't stick around with me," Darian said dismissively.
He was determined to do what he needed to achieve his goals.
"Darian, come on. I'm just worried about you," Alaric protested. He wasn't about to leave Darian; he might not find such a good place elsewhere.
"Then stop talking," Darian said coldly. "Do you think Brady is invincible? He's got his problems right now."
Alaric wasn't sure what Darian meant and was about to ask when Darian continued, "Don't ask questions. Just do what I tell you and make sure Violet loses."
"Alright," Alaric sighed, deciding not to press further.
Meanwhile, in Darian's basement, Jade awoke from unconsciousness, realizing she might have been kidnapped.
But who would bother kidnapping her?
Feeling her throbbing head, she wobbled to her feet, trying to get a sense of her surroundings.
At her age, and after being injected with so much sedative, she couldn't recover as quickly as a younger person.
As she explored the large basement, she had to stop frequently to catch her breath, leaning against the wall for support.
The basement was sparsely furnished, with only a few pieces of furniture and a locked door.
After circling the room, she found no way out.
Overcome by dizziness, Jade took a few more steps before succumbing to the sedative's effects, collapsing and losing consciousness again.
