Chapter 846 Violet Cannot Leave

"Mr. Voss..." Calliope was practically at a loss for words, staring at the audacious man in disbelief.

He had just told her something, and now he was acting like it never happened?

"Violet, he said Brady would be questioned by the cops as soon as he got off the plane," Calliope insisted, a bit anxious, worried Violet might think she was just causing drama. "I swear, that's exactly what he told me."

Violet furrowed her brow, glancing between Darian and the increasingly flustered Calliope. In the end, she decided to trust Calliope. There was no reason not to; Calliope had never lied before.

But Darian? He was always unpredictable.

She couldn't fully trust him.

Still, her concern for Brady was stronger, so she sighed and said, "Maybe it's just a misunderstanding. Let's not bother Mr. Voss while he's resting."

After a pause, Violet gave Calliope a knowing look and continued, "Mr. Voss, you should get some rest. Calliope and I will head back to the office."

"If anything comes up, just give me a call."

Darian didn't want her to leave, so he suddenly reached out to grab Violet's hand.

Luckily, Calliope was quick to step in, blocking him, and Darian shot her a frustrated glare.

This troublemaker was here to stir things up.

He wasn't going to let her off easy.

"Ms. Devereux, hang on a sec, don't forget those photos," Darian said, unable to hold her hand but still trying to keep Violet from leaving.

Mentioning the photos, Violet hesitated and said, "Where are the photos? I'll go get them."

"I had Alaric bring them over," Darian said as he tried to get up from the hospital bed. As he did, he deliberately pressed his hand with the IV needle hard against the bed.

Blood immediately started to spill out, staining the white sheets.

Violet and Alaric were both startled.

Especially Alaric, who understood Darian's intentions, feeling both anxious and helpless, he could only say, "Darian, stop moving, you're bleeding. I'll call a nurse."

"This little bit of blood is nothing. The design competition's coming up, and JK's feeling the heat from that new company. If we don't hurry and nail down our design direction, what if we lose?" Darian waved his hand, completely unconcerned about his bleeding hand, and continued to prop himself up against the bed, speaking weakly.

In this pitiful state, Violet couldn't bring herself to say she was leaving.

She could only frown and stay with Calliope.

"Mr. Voss, there's no need to rush the design competition. We can talk about it once you're out of here," Violet said, slightly exasperated.

"It's fine, I can handle it," Darian stubbornly replied.

Violet was at a loss for words.

She could only let him be.

Seeing that she stayed, Darian was pleased. Once the nurse came to change the IV, he forced himself to review the photos from today's scouting trip with her, working for over an hour until he couldn't hold on any longer and lay down to rest.

Violet and Calliope waited until he fell asleep before leaving the hospital room.

As soon as they stepped out, Violet immediately called Brady, still worried about what Calliope had said earlier, fearing Brady might be in trouble.

This time, the call went through.

Brady's private jet had already landed at the airport.

Hearing his voice, Violet's tense mood eased a bit, and she asked excitedly, "Hey, are you okay?"

Brady was fine now. "Yeah, I'm here. Are you at the office?"

"I'm at the hospital, heading back to the office soon. Want me to pick you up at the airport?" She wanted to confirm whether Darian had lied or told the truth.

Brady's tone immediately turned concerned when he heard she was at the hospital: "Why are you at the hospital?"

"Darian's sick, I came to check on him." Violet wouldn't hide anything from him; they had promised each other no secrets.

Darian again. Brady was now pretty sure Jade was indeed kidnapped by him.
