Chapter 878 If You Want to Leave, You Can Drive Over Me

The once clear sky quickly turned overcast.

A chilly breeze slipped through the crack in the car window.

It dried the tears on Nicole's soft little face. She was scared and missed Brady and Violet.

When would Brady come to rescue her?

Their car was speeding down the road, but Darian didn't know that Alaric had driven to an empty parking lot to meet Lucien. He then hit the brakes and turned off the engine.

Darian glanced at the desolate surroundings, instantly on high alert. His voice was cold as he said, "Weren't we going back to the apartment to get our stuff? Why are we stopping here?"

Alaric clamped his mouth shut, not daring to make a sound.

Seeing Alaric's silence, Darian knew something was up. He ordered, "Get out of the car."

Alaric turned to look at him, trembling slightly. "Darian, can we just stop this? If you just work with JK normally, your future will be much brighter. Why do you have to go down this path?"

"Get out!" Darian didn't want to hear any more nonsense and shouted at him to get out.

Alaric stayed put, too scared to move, hoping Lucien would arrive soon.

Darian saw that Alaric was disobeying him.

His anger flared up instantly. He let go of Nicole, placing her on the seat beside him, and got out of the car. He walked around to the driver's side and yanked the door open with brute force.

Seeing Darian's furious expression, Alaric instinctively flinched.

But he didn't move.

Darian, out of patience, grabbed Alaric by the collar and yanked him out of the car.

Alaric tumbled onto the concrete, rolling twice before he could steady himself.

By the time he tried to get up and stop Darian from leaving, it was too late.

Darian had already climbed into the driver's seat, slammed the door shut, started the car, and was about to drive away from the deserted parking lot.

Just as he turned the car around, Lucien's black Mercedes pulled in.

The two cars faced each other.

Lucien glanced at Alaric on the ground and immediately understood the situation. He floored the gas pedal, not afraid of a collision, and drove straight at Darian.

Seeing Lucien coming right at him, Darian hesitated. Considering Nicole was in the back seat, he didn't hit the gas. Instead, he stopped the car just before they collided.

He then sat in the car, staring at Lucien in the other vehicle.

The two men locked eyes for about a minute before Lucien unbuckled his seatbelt and got out.

He strode over to Darian's car.

Darian had intended to hit the gas and leave, but Lucien, knowing this, said through the window, "If you want to go, you'll have to drive over me."

This made Darian pause.

After a few seconds of silence, he opened the door and got out.

"Why are you here?" Darian asked coldly, looking at the man who was probably his only true friend.

They had met while studying abroad. Sharing common interests, they quickly became close friends, confidants.

To be honest, even though Jade had supported him, his life was far from comfortable, often quite poor.

Lucien was different. He came from a prestigious family with a wealthy background.

But Lucien never looked down on him for his background. He appreciated his talent and was willing to be his friend.

Unfortunately, from the moment he was born, Darian's life was destined to be that of an underdog, unable to reach the heights of such a noble friend.
