Chapter 416 Matilda Knew the News
The phone connected quickly, and Matilda waited, nerves on edge, for Brady to speak.
Brady, clueless that Matilda already knew about his hospital stay, casually asked, "Matilda, what's up?"
"Brady, where are you right now?" Matilda wanted to grill him about his injury but decided to let him come clean on his own.
Why couldn't he just tell her? Was Violet behind this?
Matilda was starting to regret pushing Brady to pursue Violet. In that case, maybe this whole mess could've been avoided.
"I'm at the office, handling some stuff. Why?" Brady replied, sounding nonchalant.
Matilda wasn't buying it. "Are you lying? You're not at the office."
"Why would I lie?" Brady frowned, sensing something was off in her tone. He started to get serious.
Did Matilda know about his injury? Who spilled the beans?
"Don't lie to me. Just tell me the truth, or I'll be really mad." Matilda raised her voice, trying to push Brady into confessing.
Brady's frown deepened. After a few seconds of silence, he decided to come clean. It seemed like Matilda already knew; there was no point in hiding it.
"Okay, fine. I'm not at the office; I'm at the hospital. But it's no big deal. Don't worry."
So it was true. Matilda's worry turned into anger. "You didn't even tell me. Which hospital are you at? I'm coming over right now."
"The Hall Group's private hospital," Brady said, feeling a headache coming on as soon as he heard she was coming.
But he had to tell her, or she'd get even angrier.
"Alright, I'm coming over now." Matilda hung up, her face already grim.
Pelinka had been right.
"Are you going to see Brady?" Pelinka had overheard their conversation but pretended to ask again.
Matilda nodded.
"Then I won't keep you." Pelinka stood up and pulled a printed online news article from her bag, handing it to Matilda. "These are all facts. I came to you today hoping you could help us. We can't be humiliated, and we won't kneel before Violet."
Matilda took the paper, glanced at it, and her expression darkened. "Don't worry. I won't let Brady threaten you like this. He can't act recklessly."
"Thank you for your help. I should go now," Pelinka said and left.
Matilda, holding the newspaper, started reading it again. It was filled with stories about Violet's past and how she neglected her parents.
She was really promiscuous, sleeping around with various men, and now messing with Brady. Matilda had misjudged Violet, thinking she was decent and even encouraging her to date Brady.
The more Matilda read, the angrier she got. Her fingers gripped the newspaper tightly, almost tearing it apart.
But she didn't. Instead, she calmed down and told the butler, "Get the car ready. I need to go to the Hall Group's private hospital immediately."
The butler nodded and hurried off.
